Mr. Clean autodry car wash

Anyone seen these things? My parents bought me one and I tried it out. The thing has a filter on it so it removes on the crap in the water and your car is supposed to air dry without water spots. Surprisingly, this thing actually works! I have a black car, so water spots are definately an issue and this thing left none on the car. Needless to say, i'm pretty impressed.....

Just thought i'd share.

It says it is guaranteed to work....when my car has a paint job worth washing lol I will have to try it.

I washed my old Ford Explorer with one today. Didn't use the Autodry soap, tried it with Meguiar's NXT soap. Worked perfectly! Soaked the very dirty truck with spray setting to loosen up the dirt. Turned knob to "soap" and washed, constantly spraying with soap and washing with a lambswool mitt. Washed down again with plain water. Then final rinse with the filtered water. Drove truck on freeway for a few miles to dry it. No water spots at all.
Used to take me longer to dry then it did to wash. Most of the value of this washer is in the filtered water rinse. I think a cheaper way to go would be one of these:http://www.pwgazette.com/gardenhosefilters.htm

I think that the Autodry filter would only last three or four wases at my house. We have really hard water. And the Mr Clean filters cost 6.00 each.

Don't even worry about air drying the car on the highway. I let mine dry in the sun.... just begging for water spots, I didn't get any.

Yeah, for some reason I think that filter will be spent in no time.

I just snagged one and used it on my wife's Black 99 F150 4X4 Sport, the Mercury Marauder, and the 1993 Coupe in my signature, and I don't have a single water spot on any of the cars.

I simply wet them down, soaped the up, used a clean soft cloth to wipe the soap around, and rinsed off with the filtered water and let them air dry. The results were amazing...not a single water spot anywhere on the vehicle.

I always let my car dry before I drive it...tends to pick up dirt if it's still wet

Nice to know -- i have a black car and spots are always there if i dont wipe dry. We have hard water as well so i guess i'll give it a try.
Does it work well with any brand auto wash?

It comes with its own car wash. The car wash works in conjunction with the filters. I doubt you would get the same results if you used another brand. Their car wash is designed to sheet the water off helping the drying process. Most car wash products are not designed to sheet the water off.

Is this a good wash to use? My car was just painted and I have chosen to use Meguiars Gold Class wash and dry by hand.

Just make sure you have a good mitt to wash. I use natural sheepskin wool washmitts (look inside the mitt, it should look like raw leather) to wash. You should also use two buckets to wash, one for clean water to rinse the mitt in and the other for the car wash/water mix. Each time you go to put more car wash on the mitt rinse it in the clean water first to remove any debris.

I don't think it matters what you wash it with as long as you thoroughly rinse the vehicle with the filtered water. This removes all the crap in the water that normally dries on your car. I say this because I did use some other soap in a bucket on the car... and also the regular rinse and wash on the auto dry nozzle does not use the filtered water.... but I rinsed with the filter and still had no water spots.

does that make any sense, I just spit that out quick?

Our local news just did a consumer report on the auto dry and it worked very well. Not perfect, there were a FEW water spots but nothing like not using it.
Guess it's worth a try. They gave it a thumbs up.

I have been using mine for months now and I love it. I have a dark green car and a never have spots. It all depends on how hard your water is.
