Mrs. HistoricMustang

It doesn't get any better than this. My race rod and the little lady's automatic, air conditioned, coupe.

Finishing up the Coupe and will need some help with the loose ends!

OK, I worked on the Coupe most of the weekend. Changed all the fluid - rear end, tranny (auto), oil and water. No major problems! Installed pod with Auto-Meter guages just under the air conditioning unit and checked most of the electrical system.

Need some advice.

The GT instrument panel fuel guage is not working. Perhaps a bad guage but it is getting power. The testing light goes on and off on a regular basis (kind of like a pulse) and am wondering if this is correct or did perhaps the previous owner do something goofy with the wiring?

Jump in and give me some ideas on how to trouble shoot the fuel guage and the sending unit at the tank.

I will reward you will a great photo from the track!

Does the needle move at all or when you fill it up go to full then quickly go to 1/4?

Does not move at all.

Believe I have a bad guage and just wondering if the sending unit is also bad.

Is just the fuel guage available for the GT cluster?

Changing the sending unit is going to be a six pack for sure!

I am headed out so keep the suggestions coming! Here is a photo to keep up the interest.

I remember this module. Could it be producing the on and off signal that I got with the test light?

It's just a capacitor really, so if your dash is poorly grounded, or the fuse has a bit of corrosion on it, then it may not be getting as much power as required and is energizing too slowly then discharging suddenly when it reaches it's operating range giving you an on/off signal.
