Nope. It was a driver in a Camaro that jumped the green flag and caused it. He was expelled and three other drivers were suspended. The Cobra (who Historic used to race with) is a real one. No kit cars are allowed in vintage.

One of the Camaro's (not the one expelled) had just won a trophy the night before as "The Best Restored Car". The car was just finished for this event. It was a perfect car (probably $150K in restoration cost). It was completely totaled.

If you own a period correct car, it may not have rear drums (or front drums if it's real old). It's illegal to update to current technology in most vintage groups.

I realize most of these cars were made for racing but I don't think I would have enough guts to race some of these cars for fear of wrecking. I do however think that most cars should be driven on the road. This could be scary too with some of the drivers I've seen on the road.

I want to clarify myself some in case somebody misunderstands me. I wouldn't be afraid of wrecking but tearing up something as valuable as these cars.

OK, what's with the 5 gallon bucket. Is it used to clean ones pants out if one gets too skeered?

You should change your lettering on your car. Your class is IAV (not AIX).

Yea! - That Falcon is what I like. My next project is a '65 Ranchero. The car is getting a major weight loss plan, it should come in around 2400lbs with 400hp. My daily driver is a '64 Falcon Sprint. That is one sweet looking car. Mustangs are cool too.

Yep, as soon as I get this retirement thing tied down!.

About the bucket (of which Doc and I have visited on numerous occasions):

Two gallons of tequila, two gallons of margarita mix and one bag of ice in a five gallon bucket. We found the original paint bucket (used) out behind an outbuilding at Road Atlanta in the mid '90's when we started doing this craziness. And no - no time to throw up when hauling butt...........no time for that!

I see you've posted a picture of Mrs. Historic. It is appropriate since this is her thread.

Yea, they claimed they rinsed that bucket out first. I'm not so sure. They are on a new kick now: Cranberry juice, vodka, and some sort of liqueur. I've noticed the champion drivers don't drink during race weekend. I think it's part of their plan to over-serve their competitors (and the competitor's crew members) .

LMan, you need to call Tim and talk to him about Falcons. He has a bunch of them and always has some FS. He also has a few Mavericks and even a couple of those long Ford station wagons (Country Squires?). I asked him one time how many 69/70 Mustangs he had owned. He thought for a minute and answered "'over 60". He only has two Shelby's now (a GT350 and a GT500).

Here's a possible pic of Historic's new car (he doesn't like to talk about it). Since he is a big fan of Jeff Gordon, he had it painted in those colors.
