mrt h pipe question (04 owners help please)

Hi all,

I did a little shopping this week starting with a Mach 1 chin spoiler, some billet interior bits, and finishing with a pre owned MRT catted H. I am under the impression that I need the 02 sensor extensions. Is that true? Also should I get a new passenger side gasket? If so, where is the best place to get it? And finally do I clamp the middle part of the H (where the 2 pieces of the connect) or do they just slide together and stay?

I am very excited to get all this done!!!!

With the 04 you will need extens , but if you have a tuner you can turn off the rear 02's and plug the holes , if I remember its an 18mm bolt , thats what I ended up doing , and get a new pass gasket from Ford , I think its 12 bucks , and not sure what part you are talking about with the middle part of the H !

I do not have a tuner, so I will get the extensions. I can get the gasket from my local ford dealer. The MRT H is in two pieces. They connect at the cross part of the H (the part going horizontally in an H).
The person I bought it from said he did not use a clamp or anything, that it just held together. I was just wondering if a clamp would be beneficial.

Sorry I cant help you with the MRT H , I cant see how they would just hold together but I'm sure someone will know !

I have a MRT on my 02 GT. I didn't use a clamp to hold the 2 pieces together. The instruction that came with the pipe said it can be clamped if desired. The 2 pieces fit together very tightly. I can't see where you'd have a problem if you didn't clamp them together. I haven't. Pearl.02

Yes o2 extensions, yes new gasket from ford and yes use a clamp on the pipe (you can buy an exhaust clamp from any parts store cheap. easier to put it on when installing it and not have it leak then to not install it and risk annoying leaks.

Thanks. I will order the sensors extensions and pick up a clamp. What exactly should I ask for as far as the gasket. (Maybe a part #). I only ask because the parts / service people at my local dealership are idiots

Tell them then passenger side manifold to mid pipe gasket. IF they can't find it, go to another dealer.

ninosport.com has the extensions and a ford factory gasket listed. Is it ok to get the gasket from there and has anyone had experience with this site?

No experience with them but if the gasket is from Ford it will be fine. The H section will not require a clamp....the pipe is not sliced on the sides and it's pretty thick so I don't see a clamp doing much. Mine has never leaked.

Thanks a lot guys. Buying used I was not sure since I got no instructions. I plan to not clamp it unless it appears to need one.
