Will an ignition system make more HP? Absolutely not. How can it if the engine is not missing to begin with. "Hotter" spark does not make more HP or improve fuel mileage. We've all seen those ads claiming "Tremendous gains in HP and torque" - "23HP!" etc. . . No way. Let's test it on our dyno anytime at no cost with a magazine in attendance. If you're running high boost and the engine is misfiring, first reduce the plug gap to .035". If that doesn't solve the problem, then install a hotter ignition system. The Kenne Bell BOOST-A-SPARK is the best ignition for late model vehicles. It's easy to install and will fire plugs to at least 30 psi.

+1 on the Taylor wires. Hands down, the best ignition improvement I've ever installed.

I'm keeping my Hi-6 that I had on the car and using it for my turbo build. Got the job done for me. Those 10.4 Taylors are pretty damn huge.

D either or are fine with me, Taylor 8.2 Thundervolts or 409's, or Moroso Super 40.

cool... what ever i order is going to need to be a cut to length. im tired of dealing with long ass off the shelf wires. ive thought about getting the wire traps that bolt to the valve covers but have heard they cause arking and didnt want to chance it

I've always wanted to try one of those programmable, digital units like the 7 or 8 series. Not really sure if it's worth it though, since my spark tables are all tuned through the EEC.

My question is, and it kind of relates to Noobz post: if you're not having a missfire and you're achieving combustion, AND you have a timing curve coming from your ECM, what the hell does as aftermarket ignition system actually do for you? Is a secondary spark not like throwing a lit match onto an already burning campfire?

I did mine for the corrected rev limiter and 2 step. Msd cuts the spark in the rev limiter the ECM cuts fuel. If your running a nitrous set up this can be bad... Very VERY bad

I've heard two sides to this story but have never been tempted to test the theory.

The theiry I'm talking about is the one where when the injectors cut out, they cut out completely. So no explosive lean condition.

Ahhhhh.... Yeah, I could see how that might be an issue.

Are the FRPP's that bad? Never heard of issues... I'd like to use one of those monster 10mm kits LOL Mostly for the looks.

Now this, I can understand. Just don't get it why people put them on mild N/A builds. Even on half way "hot" pump gas N/A builds it would seem to be a waste of money.
