Mufflers

I have a 99 cobra and had a quick exhaust question. I was wondering if I changed out the Mufflers on the car would I get close to the same sound that I would out of a cat back system? Hypothetically, Lets say I switched to flowmasters american thunder mufflers, would I get close to the same sound that I would out of the full catback? I am a little low on cash and would be happy if I could get the sound I am looking for, relatively inexpensively. Thanks for the help.

Yes, you would. It wont be totally identical, since many catback use stainless steel, and SS resonates a little differently than aluminized. But for all intents and purposes, you or I wouldnt be able to hear the difference.

it wont sound the same but im assuming it will sound alot different then stock. If you want the loudest sound then go with some flowmaster 1 chamber mufflers. Dont get 3 chamber mufflers it will be quiet and u prob wont like it if you want your car loud.
