Anyone know where I can find a pair of Mustang II motor mounts for a 1976 Cobra Mustang II?
Thanks,
Kurt

302 mounts are elusive. Classic Auto Reproduction has them on their site, but they're on back order.

1974-1978 Mustang II V8 Motor Mount - 2 pcs Kit

1974-1978 Mustang II V8 Motor Mounts (Preorder) This kit contains both driver and passenger side motor mounts ETA is currently about a month out on availability
classicautoreproductions.com

If you still have them, there's a rebuild kit, also available from Classic Auto Reproductions.

1974-1978 Mustang II V8 Motor Mount Rebuild Kit

Original motor mount rubber deteriorates over time, causing the engine to sag. These kits are designed to bring the engine back to stock height and eliminiate header fitment issues. Kit contains new urethane blocks, bolts, lock washers and locking nuts to rebuild both driver and passenger side...
classicautoreproductions.com

I'm not aware of any reproductions or rebuild kits for anything other than 302s.

Thanks much LILCBRA! I was aware of the rebuild kit but not the full mount. $310! Yikes.

You're welcome. You might get lucky and find some on Ebay, but then again you'd most likely need to go through those as well.

Hello everyone.
I'm currently converting my Mustang II to a V8 and ordered these engine mounts from Classic Repro.
They're made slightly differently and have different sides.
Can anyone tell me, or provide good pictures, how to install the engine mounts correctly? Unfortunately, there are no signs.

The mount with the slotted hole is for the right side. You will also need the frame brackets for a V8 to be able to attach the motor mounts to the frame, 6028 (RH) and 6029 (LH) in the illustration below.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, no one here in Germany has talked about frame mounts for such conversions. Help, where can I get these mounts again? Does anyone have them for sale?

As far as I know, no one reproduces the frame mounts. So your best bet would be EBay or a specialty supplier/salvage source such as Phil Schmidt in Alabama. Unfortunately I don't have any contact info for him, but I'd suspect it wouldn't be too hard to find if you did a search. I believe he's on Facebook as well, so that may be your best bet to get a hold of him if you have a profile. Look in the Mustang II groups, I'm pretty sure he's active there.

What was the original engine? I think the passenger frame mount is the same for 4 or 6 cyl, and you may only need the driver side. Keep an eye on eBay, I see them on there occasionally. Phil Schmidt should also have a set: Mustang II Specialty Shop (NOS, Repro and Used). 64197 460th St Fairfax,MN 55332 (334)298-3038. E-Mail: pschmidt65@prodigy.net

Here's a V6/V8 passenger frame mount: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2665255214...pid=5335821607&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

The original engine is a 2.8 V6.
I'm currently converting it to a V8 5.0 HO engine.

I think you will only need the left side mount.

Yes, I exchanged a few messages with him recently when looking for a driveline damper and he mentioned that he was back in Minnesota.

Here a couple of pictures to compare to your existing frame mounts.

Since you are swapping in a V8, you will also need the oil pan and pickup tube for a Mustang II, and the Mustang II bell housing, flex plate and torque converter (if using and automatic) or Mustang II flywheel, clutch/pressure plate and bell housing (if using manual trans). A donor car is the best route to get all the Mustang II specific parts you need.

You can try via kleinanzeigen.de
Look for Salzwedel and Mainz. There is also a scarp yard in Netherlands which was quite helpfull and has a lot of Mustang IIs. I bought my clutch pedal assembly there. I will send you the info via PM.

I modified my V6 mounts. But if I would do it again. I would build the mounts from scratch.
I like this idea (jump to 20:00) very much:

But building something like that is more for experienced gear heads. Or for someone who doesn't mind to do it again (several times).

I heard today from German forums that the V6 and V8 seem to have identical frame mounts, only the 4-cylinder has different ones.
I searched for V6 engine mounts and found them; they also have the same distance between the bolt-on points on the frame mounts.
I hope it's true that the V6 and V8 are identical.
Now I have a minor problem. My motor mounts are from Classic Repro and don't have markings like left and right, but there is a longer and shorter side.
How do I install them so that the motor is positioned correctly?
