Mustang 5.0 vs. B16 Civic hatch

so theres this ricer who talks **** on my car when im not around and im getting tired of it.. i just want to make sure that i can beat him.. ha.. so what do you guys think?

I have an 89 Mustang GT 5spd stock except BBK CAI, Flowmaster mufflers and stock 3.08 Gears. 3470 lbs with driver.

Hes got JDM B16 Hatch with probably CAI and exhuast not really sure. 2300 lbs with driver.

I wanna know what you guys think?
I wanna kill some rice

I had a CRX with a B16 in it. It had a exhaust, CAI, and a 75 shot and I would spin through 1st and 2nd off the line. I still did a 13.9 I think without the nitrous thats a high 14 second car. Not fast, but for what it is, its quick. If you would upgrade your gears to 373 or 410 you would win. With the stock gears.... eee.... i dont know.....

i plan on taking it to the track.. but idk if he will go all the way to a track which is 2 hours away so i might have to race him on a back road. Is there anything i can do to increase my chances of winning?i might pick up some underdrive pullies and advance the timing to 14 degrees.. will that help?

make sure he doesn't have a turbo, if not, think it would be a pretty even race

yes, that will help. So would a short belt that bypasses the power steering and air-pump - yours for $20 or less at autozone, 1 minute install.

Unfortunately, the only part of your statement that really matters is "not really sure." That statement makes it impossible for anyone to give you more than a guess. That said, if your guess is right and you don't F it up, you'll embarrass him.

Quit wasting your time, theres a decent chance you might not win but reguardless its pretty well stupid. Who gives a damn if hes "Talking **** about your car" he drives a honda what the hell does he know?

Just enjoy the car you have.

If he's talking trash about your car and the cars are closely matched, you may want to leave it alone. Talking trash vs. actually having a race and possibly losing are way different.

On the other hand, if it's convienent and somewhat controlled conditions I don't turn down a race even if I know I'm going to lose because I enjoy the rush and drivng my car and show respect if I lose.

A 2K Civic Si with a factory B16 N/A can turn a mid 14 second pass with a couple of mild mods. If he was nitrous or a turbo you're hosed. It is really going to depend on how well your car runs. If it runs as bad mine, you are going to lose.

maybe pull the spair tire and jack but your in a 5.0 fox so your already doing better no matter what happens in the race but if he only has intake and exhaust you should be ok. i would guess the hole shot will make or break that race.

a B16 honda? LOL and you even have to ask? If it doesnt have nitrous or a turbo I wouldnt even waste my time racing him. Back in high school when my car was stock with just and exhaust I had a guy in a hatchback claiming that he had all kinds of work done and wouldnt tell anybody what he had under the hood, it was a big secret. I had random people I didnt even know around school telling me I was going to get my ass handed to me. I decided to race this mystery hatchback, not only did I absolutely destroy him, but my buddy in his stock 99GT which was supposed to be the chase car with the camera absolutely destroyed him as well. Needless to say we had some entertainment for some time. Turned out being some LS Vtec swap or something stupid like that.

N/A LS Vtec swap is a good way to blow a lot of money and stay slow.
