Mustang Carpet

Anyone ever installed a new carpet, or taken theirs out for cleaning? How hard is it? and is there any big problems with it?

never done it but it looks pretty straightforward... rear seat, door sills, kick panels, center console, seats, center column... that should be about everything

another... one of the first things i would do with 100$

I heard that the door sills were glued on, and once they were taken off, they would never have the right "stick" like that had from the factory? Is this true?

hmm, i've never taken them off.. didn't really think about that. i've only taken off the plastic piece on top and that has little clips

The door sills are not glued, they have plastic clips. I have taken mine off at least 5 times and they are still fine.

I replaced the carpet in mine about 1.5 years ago due to some water damage. I went with black and I think it looks great.

All you gotta do is remove the seats - 4 bolts/piece + unplug the connectors under the seats, and remove the center console - take out the tray in the middle and undo the 2 screws & also remove the shifter assembly and undo the screws holding the console to the dash. It helps to have the e-brake in 100% up position to get the console out.

Also, you gotta usually cut all the holes and remove some of the carpet to fit under the console. You gotta poke holes for the seat bolts, seat belts, and wire connectors. I also put down a bunch of dynamat while I had it all apart, helped a bunch with exhaust/tire drone.

Also, I suggest getting some carpet glue for the spots that dont stay in place. Theres a couple places in mine that bunch up and wrinkle, so I gotta put some adhesive down so it looks factory tight.

thanks for the help, i'm gonna take it out and try and clean it, i'd like to put down a little dynomat also.

jtkz13 is that black carpet and grey interior if so can you post more pics. I want to try the same thing but I'm unsure if it will look right with black carpet and grey interior. I do have the dark grey and black interior by the way not just straight grey. Thanx
EDIT- never mind I followed the link in your sig I wanted to see a pic with the front seat in and the black carpit it looks awsome I plan on doing the same we have the same interior tho mine is a little darker grey tho.

jtkz13 did you have to remove the rear seats to install the carpet?

You probably dont HAVE to, because the carpet just kinda tucks under the seat cushion. It only takes 10-15 minutes to do the 1st time, and it makes it easier to get the carpet laid flat, so I would suggest it.

And yeah, black carpet with the grey interior looks 100X better than the light grey carpet. My interior is black on grey, so I think it blends in really nice. Plus its hella easier to keep clean looking.

I rode around in it bare like that for a month or so because I didnt have the funds for the carpet & dynamat at the time. Of course luck would have it that my radio stopped working so I got to hear EVERY single frickin rock hit the underside of the car, and the exhaust was extremely extremely reverberating inside the car. When I put it all back together it took me a week or so to get used to a muted exhaust note, I kept revving it out way too high for normal use.

I was so in need of some different noise that I duct taped a boombox to the floor next to me where the center console should have been until me radio was fixed. Yeah, it was G H E T T O

you know whats ghetto? my seet track broke at the track and i had to put a 5 gallon bucket begid my seat so that when im going down the track i didnt fall back.

You know what's really ghetto? When I first put in my headers, I forgot to bend back the clutch cable, and it frayed and broke. In the mean while, I was in the middle of traffic and I had to have my friend push me whenever I stopped and had to shift without a clutch. That was a fun time in stop and go traffic. I felt very proud to own a mustang then.

I got some off Ebay. It was pretty close, but its not exactly a 100% factory fit, it needs to be trimmed. I'm sure 50resto has some, not sure how much better it is than what I bought.

It didnt require a ton of modding, just poking some holes and removing some excess material on the sides, by the door sills.

I GOT MY NEW CARPET FROM 50RESTO.COM FAST SHIP AND I ONLY HAD TO CUT A LITTLE AROUND THE EDGE NICE CARPET NOT HARD TO INSTALL JUST GET A BUDDY TO HELP LITTLE PULL AND PUSH HERE AND THERE.

good thread. Im having my capret redone next spring. Right now my interior is Gray/Black w/ gray carpeting. My dash is black and my door pannels are gray and black. My carpeting is old and has stains that wont come out so Im going to redo it in black. I think it will look good w/ the black dash and a little gray on the door pannels. Id also like to get black racing seats at some point.

Striped I got the same exact thing. I plan on getting the Summit seats this winter cuz the grey stockers just get too damn dirty quickly. The black carpet really looks better, imo.

You can get a Carpet/floor mat deal off 50resto for $150, with a pony logo on the mats. I wanna get black carpet and grey mats for my grey interior.
