Mustang GT optimized for drag racing

I have seen info on the Roush Drag Pack on a Mustang GT that supposedly gets high 11s in the 1/4 mile. So if I were going to utilize Ford Racing Performance parts on my 2007 Automatic to create a faster car in the 1/4 mile without adversely affecting daily driveability, what should I use?

Obviously, the Ford Racing Drag Pack: 3.73 gears, 90mm CAI, shorty headers, performance oil filter.

Then 17 inch wheels--anybody know of any lightweight ones?

Anything else?

4.10's > 3.73's. If you're going to do headers (big bucks!), do longtubes, not shortys.

• FRPP 4.10's
• Adjustable Upper Control Arm
• Lower Control Arms
• Pulleys (~10 RWHP)
• JLT CAI + Tune (~20-30 RWHP)
• Mickey Thompson ET Streets (Bias Ply, not the Radial)
• Mid-Pipe (X gives slightly more power than H, after that it's sound preference in my opinion)
• Torque Converter
• Remove front sway bar

That will get you mid-high 12's with a good launch, good weather and decent track prep.

For high 11's and since every little bit counts, I'd venture into the following...

• Spydershaft
• Electric Waterpump
• Skinnys
• Longtubes
• Weight Reduction (Battery, Seats, Front Sway Bar, Lighter K-Member etc.,)
• Drag Springs
• Drag Shocks


Also, avoid the Throttle Body and Throttle Body Spacer. No real major gains from either and in my opinion, not worth the money at all.

Does it have to be FRPP for any reason? You already have CDC & Corsa parts on your car, what's a few other aftermarket companies gonna hurt?

Many of the aftermarket companies have fully developed their products to the point of being nearly as good long-term as OEM pieces.

With your GT's automatic, you can dramatically improve your short times at the track with a high rpm stall converter.

Yes. Why? Because I have connections where I can get FRPP at dealer cost. As far as CDC, Ford used CDC's Shaker Hood Scoop system on their factory 2003-04 Mach Is.

Sure, CDC helped Ford develop and test the 03/04 Mach 1 Shaker, but there's not a Ford or FRPP part number on the CDC Shaker kit for 05-08's. If you were able to get one through FRPP at dealer cost, then my hat is off to you.

However, if you're looking for really good bang-for-the-buck, then I still recommend a high rpm stall converter for your automatic. While companies like TCI charge $800-$1200 for a lock-up stall converter, Fuddle Racing sells their high quality (and nicely warranted) lock-up stall converters for just $560 regardless of which stall speed you select (3000-3200, 3400-3600, or 3800-4000 rpm's).

to tell you the truth, if you want the car to be optimized for drag racing, most of the FRPP parts are not gonna be the best. the tunes are conservative, the headers are a waste, and 3.73 is not the best gear for drag racing (unless you are gonna add the supercharger as well). etc. etc. etc.

sometimes just because you can get a deal on something does not mean you should buy it. if you just want to add a little more speed then they would be ok, but far from optimized IMO.

If you stick with the near stock height tire a 4.30(maybe even 4.56)gear will be good for dedicated 1/4 mile as it will put you much closer to 6000-6200 RPM at the stripe.
