I raced a 350z this weekend and i got him off the line and had him by a car length :nice: until third gear he started coming back real slow until I got to top of third held him and shifted to fourth and he started coming up a little and then we hit traffic. I'm not shure if I would have beat him or not I had three passengers he had none. I am going to purchase gears but im stuck between 373 and 410 i have a five speed and Im going to purchase nitto DRs. I've read on other post that 410s accelerate faster but i've also read that 373s pull harder on interstate or higher speeds. W/My stock 273 gears I have no pull in fifth gear I/ve had a mustang previously with 373s and fifth gear was better but still not like my buddies M3 :notnice: . do 410s give me that fifth gear? Why would 373s pull harder than 410s at higher speeds unless 410s are topped out? I like racing from a 50mph roll rather than from a stop so I want the gears that will give me the most power from 50mph! Any Help???????? I need to beat my buddies (track edition) 350z (6 speed, lighter). The one i raced this weekened was probably atomatic.

That 350z is pretty sweet, be careful and don't sleep on him. I would go with the 3.73's personally. I pushed my car one night with the 3.73's in them till about 125 or so racing an Acura 3.2 on the Interstate, so unless you plan on going 135 or so I would recommend them. :nice:

THats because your mostly stock JJ. Our stock motors peak out at around 4K and drops of really fast. YOur running out of hp. Afast, I would recommend 3.55's like me, if you do any reasonable amount of street driving. Actually I run on street tires most of the time so I would like to have like 3.08's or something. But then again your mostly stock I'm not so...I guess it will depend on where you go with your car. Personally I think 3.55's are a happy medium. Good for stock thru highly modified. ANd still perfectly streetable. I drive my car in rush hour traffic in downtown chicago several times a week and its not bad. Hell, on nice days I even deliver pizzas with it. Lemme tell ya, you wouldent want 4.10's delivering pizzas in downtown.

Anyways, not to say your delivering pizzas or anything. But just trying to prove a point on how livable the 3.55's are.

My car tops out at 122mph. 5th gear @ about 4200rpm with 3.73. It just stops pulling and stays at speed. Weird!!??

That is weird. You shouldn't be topping out at 4200rmp's. I would think you'd stop pulling a little higher than that. I'm putting 3.73's in my car as soon as I get the money to have them installed or the balls to do it myself. I want some more acceleration, and I gotta keep myself out of trouble on the highway (160mph cruise down RT80). So I guess when mine go on I'll find out if mine stops pulling at the same RPM :nice:

When I had just a full exhuast and 3.55's mine pulled to 120 easy and then for some reason the check engine light came on. she might of made it to 130-150. I heard our cars stock make it to 150, with everything in premo condition.

What might cause the engine light, anyone.

I have 3.55's in my car and it is pretty much stock. I took on an Acura RSX type S on the freeway. I had my car up to 145mph and was pretty much staying ahead of it. The 3.55's pull nice for me in fourth gear at high speeds. Unless your engine revs high and pulls in those high rpm's, there is not much sense getting 3.73's or 4.10's if you are going to be doing high speed racing.

That is the best sounding Magnaflow exhaust I have heard. What are your mods?

dont try it with that stang,i have a 350z also i got 165 with both windows down and more pedal to go.

well...I'm not gonna say u'll romp the guy or nething....but with the right gearing it'll def. be closer....it also helps if ur a good driver.

I love taking the stang out and completely killing all these high dollar cars....rather fun...especially guys with run of the mill vettes (haven't come across any special ones). Save some money up and do H/C/I or a supercharger or....u can always give it some giggle gas....nice and cheap(er)...that's when u really start to appreciate that lil ol v8.

as for ur gear issue...I think 3.55s would do u rather nicely. I'm happy with my 3:73s..great driveability and better acceleration.
