Well I noticed today after running my car some I was sitting talking to a friend who wanted to hear how well my car sounded. I gave a few quick stabs to the throttle which went to around 3000 rpms and we noticed white smoke coming from the tail pipes. Uh oh. Anyways I would rev slowly and nothing happened so I did a couple more quick dabs and sure enough it would do it but only occasionaly. He said it sprayed a little water, we think, on him while he stood behind the car.

In the pipes there is ALOT of BLACK waterish stuff but I cant tell. When I look into the pipes it looks like ALOT of carbon buildup, similar to the buildup in my upper plenum when I took the stocker off.

White Smoke usually relates to water but I have no loss of coolant or anything or loss of power so what can it be?? \

This is where someone (not me because I've never used the stuff) will come on and say 'it's a 97, kinda old, etc etc, try seafoam'

You're right tho - white smoke usually means water/coolant in exhaust.

Might be condsation in the pipes..

Check your plugs I would think if it was problem they might show something also check your oil for anything..

yeah normally i'd sa you have a head gasket leak. And its leaking coolant into the cylinders. But if you say you aren't losing coolant level..then maybe its something else but im not sure what.

Keep your eye on that collant level. This sounds like a blown headgasket.

probally condensation. just keep a eye on your coolant level

Some cars just do that. My minivan shoots a ton of water out the tailpipe when I rev it. Still, I'd keep my eyes open for other signs of a potential head gasket leak, overheating, unexplained loss of coolant, etc.

Well I just changed the oil and it looks good. There wasn't any smell that we could tell so I'm thinking it is maybe just condensation. I have never noticed it to be like that before but I will keep an eye on it. Coolant level is still good. No overheating/loss of power/noise etc. so I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the replies!

Should I consider seafoam, seems like everyone has great results?

it more than likely condensation, was the car fully wramed up at operating temp or was it somewhat cold

Do you still have cats? Every mustang ive seen without cats smokes like that. It's probably not a problem.

The water spitting out is actually a good sign. A good running motor will produce a generous amount of water through the combustion process (like a dehumidifyer).

trigz I agree with you there!!Plus if it was coolant it would have a wired smell..

If it's TONS of white smoke then I would worry. If it was a blown head gasket, the oil would look "milky", the car would overheat, and you would loose coolant. Just watch the coolant level and check the oil periodically.
