And that’s it. Tape your harness up and now the fun part of finding somewhere to mount it. The O2 sensors extension harness is the plug to the right side of the pin. Under the black sleeve are my crimps. Grey wire is to the wideband controller. The black wire coming out of the plug to the right is the O2 heater ground. This is the wire that connects to the white wire in the above diagram. I just left it long. Once everything is mounted, i cut and crimped on a lug connector and grounded it to the body in a safe/clean spot.

I ended up mounting mine to the K-member on the inside edge. It should be low enough away from engine and exhaust but high enough to not get damaged from road debris. I don't drive in the rain.

I used zip ties for now just to get up and running but likely will come back with a more secure means of mounting this.

And that's is. Unit is installed. Time to fire up the PC, load the base tune, and see if it fires up.

I will admit, if it's your first time out on a track and you don't know the layout, most folks just putt around at 40MPH afraid to really push it.

I have about 20-30 laps on this particular track and know it quote well, so I had a fun time. I got 6 laps in with the GT3. It's a phenomenal platform on the track, although for a street car i'd opt for the Turbo S

The " plain Jane" 911's are pretty amazing too.... I have driven 2 different ones on the street, one being a 96 Turbo "look" car.. ( turbo body without the turbo" ....... Amazing cars...

Not to hijack @Mustang5L5 ’s thread, but…. I have both and have to say that I enjoy the Mustang more.

The Porsche is great but with over 100K miles on it, I worry about the engine coming apart on me every time I drive it.

Yes, i absolutely could have made the harness shorter.

I still have the other side to wire up. I figure now that i have an idea how I want to mount this i'll make that one shorter, swap out the controllers and then redo this one.

Most likely i'll do that this winter. Really I want to get this fired up and get it somewhat tuned.

I can understand that.

But they are great driving machines. I'd like to one day put a variant of a 911 in my garage. I was a Porsche guy before I was a Mustang guy, it's just that Mustangs are a lot more obtainable.

I agree! Surprisingly, the Mustang in that pic is worth more than the ‘03 996 C4S. You can find a nice 996 era car for under $30k. But…they break often and are expensive to maintain.

I’ve done Tail of the Dragon, Back of the Dragon, Scorpion, etc. in the C4S. Amazing!! I’ll do them all in the Mustang eventually now that it’s back on the road. It’ll be good to compare : )

The system requirements for tunerstudio are pretty low. Essentially it was made to be used with old laptops.

The laptop I just installed it on is 4 years old and nothing special. $200 eBay Dell 5420.

I’ll be honest…what’s slowing me up is filming what I’m doing for my YouTube channel.

I have to update the firmware on the ECU, then I can set the TPS and wideband and orher params and then see if it will fire up. I’m just trying to do that all on video which sucks. This is totally not worth the $2/month I make in YouTube money.

Another source that i use for cheap older laptops is Dell refurbished store. Around holidays they have a 40-50% stuff, so I'm able to get cheap business laptops for around the $200-300 mark.

What i really like about them is that they only have the OS, no bloatware.

Ok plugging away. The website says this is 1 hour install time. I call BS. Spent an hour just trying to get the damn ECU to talk to my laptop. This install is a full Saturday start to finish if you did it in one shot.

But I got it. Registered my tunerstudio to get the full version with autotune. Updated the firmware on the ECU and loaded the base tune.

On startup my PWM fan controller ran the fan up to full speed, so that was the first thing to address. Set the output to pin L (high current output 1) which is where I connected the control wire, and added a few parameters to command it off and it’s done.

Stopped for the night. Still a few things to set up before first crank

Maybe it's different now, but years ago when I did my MS2PNP it was about an hour from start of install to first start (I didn't include software time on the laptop as I did that while I was working).

Finished the setup. Was all set to do a first start until I noticed I never hooked the MAP sensor vac line up.

The tubing size is a little smaller than this port, so I need to find an adapter to connect. So slight delay while I sort this

All right. She lives!

Honestly it was pretty easy. (to this point) The base tune was 90% set so I just set up a few other parameters and calibrated the Coolant and air temp sensor, the wideband and the tps. Got an adapter for the vac line.

Fired right up. Idle was pretty good too.

Didn’t have time to mess with it much though. I know setting the base timings something that needs to be done right off the bat.

Hey, I gotta question: Why don't the center hats on your brake rotors rust? Zinc plated?

Did you get injector data and plug it in right? Something I learned the hard way... I don't mind having calibrated the fuel one time, to get it right, but inputting the injector data (voltage offets, i/o timing, etc...) & basic motor data like displacement is a necessity. Otherwise, you'll chase your tail later wondering why the tune is inconsistent. I'll bet you did, but just checking b/c if you didn't, that's going to cost a lot of time later.

Yes. Zinc coated. I've had these rotors for 5-6 years now? Granted I don't drive in the rain, but they still look good. One day I want to swap them out for the Baer 2-peice but that's a wish list item and not needed.

Injector data is on the to-do list. I literally have 10 mins of run time on this. Just enough time to check a few things. I know other guys would run to the tuner, but part of this is learning a lot about tuning so i've been doing a lot of research.

I have 19's on this combo right now, mostly because I was running the A9L. I have a set of 24's and 30's. I'll likely send the 30's out to get cleaned and flow tested and then install those and tune to those.

Loooots of background research you guys don't see. My night-time wind-down routine from 10pm-midnight is surfing and reading and watching youtube vids. I've got a bunch of hours into this. For me, this is the hobby.

Same here. I called them a couple months ago, as I fully intend to go with a 2 piece when I replace the rotors on Father Time. That would solve the issue of having to get C4 Corvette rotors redrilled for lug spacing. They were $700 for a pair if memory serves, though. But after that, it's only 13" rings.

Decipha's website has data for all of the Ford injectors and many others with hi & low slopes, i/o times, voltage offsets, and so on.

Would you mind sharing your tune file? I've been trying to help a friend with his MS and sometimes it runs great, and other times way too rich and kills plugs. I just want to compare and make sure I did not fat finger something.

Sure i've attached it.

This is really just the base tube from DIY autotune, set up for Ford coolant/iat sensors, 302 with 19# injectors and my wideband. I haven't changed anything regarding fueling or stuff like that
