I did the same with my dash frame and harness... retape. I got a couple of mine just a tad short and they were challenging to plug back in. And I was ocd with it as usually. Just something to watch out for. Nice work!

I got an eBay notification about a new listing for a core. Opened it up and thought those pictures look familiar. Came here to verify. Yep your listing.

So I snagged another headrest. Off a 1984 Trans AM recaro. Owner was the original owner of the car, had an accident in 1986, and had the head rest replaced under insurance. One small cut in the leather.

I bought it for my project, the pics didn’t look great. So I thought it would be a great donor

now that it’s in hand, I was wrong. One than one scratch, this headrest is practically new. I feel bad hacking it up. It's an original condition headrest from a car they only made 1500 of. Maybe I’ll just hang onto it for now....vs cut the leather off and rewrap it.

I did buy another set of Recaro headrests. Coworker in Malaysia found them for me. Dirt cheap, plus cheap shipping. The downside is they are coming cargo container..so I’ll see them in 2 months...

Damn. This thing is mint for a 1984 vintage part. Definitely can't cut this up to recover for my seats. This needs to be preserved or get in the hands of someone restoring one of those cars.

Interior side of harness done. Awaiting some non-adhesive vinyl tape to arrive for the engine bay side.

if you want to know what I’m using

Tesa 51608 - interior harness wrap
Tesa 51036 - engine side wrap

im probably going to use mostly the vinyl wrap inside the bay. The Tesa tape is very course, so I feel it will hold a lot of dirt.

here’s the engine side to work on next. Not bad, but while I’m here....

I used the Tesa 51026 when I did my wire tuck. The harness under the pinch weld is really the only one exposed, but you’re right..... it is difficult to keep clean.
Im interested to see what you use, because someday I’ll be retaping it.

Competed dash frame. I did this last weekend but left it to hang a few days to dry. Paint took very well to this with some prep.

now to decide if I attach the harness to it now, or feed the harness into the firewall(when ready) and then mount the frame and hang the harness later. I think that makes more sense

I'd connect it later. More flexibility just in case the length changed a little.

really not that bad at all. Insulation is in good shape, and still soft and pliable. I’ve inspected all the wires and they all look to be in great shape.

Out in the garage working on prep.

let’s make sure there’s no debris in here...

Wait...what’s that?

sweet! 11 cents towards the build

no idea how that got in there. It would have had to roll down from the cowl grill area as it does connect. Penny is 1996 dated.

since I’m superstitious...they need to go back
