Yeah, just put another 5k into your car and see who is raping who then. You'll be eating vette salad.

Nice way to back out and try to save face. Except that your theory still hasn't been proven. Slapping a supercharger on an '05 doesn't make it competitive with a C6. No one is ganging up on you here. You are not a martyr, just wrong.

Why yes it does se the results below.

I agree in the 1/4 the 0-60 time will be tough to match due to traction issues.

Exactly, not stock and still in the 12's. If where you live isn't riddled with 10 and 11 sec 5.0 and 4.6 litres I understand your ignorance. I would fear finding a modded F body over a Corvette that will beat me. Lots of 10 and 11 second F bodies out there too. Very few Vettes at those numbers due to the fact most Corvette owners assume that their car is the fastest on the planet and also just a supercharger package runs over $10K installed and that's a lot of cash to invest into a leased vehicle.

Wsmatau, check my spelling, I love when people play the spelling "card". It shows a complete lack of ability to debate. Kinda like going to the race card. Why don't you call me names next, same level of intelligence. I didn't include Shelby because his cars are done right. They don't need flashes to get you to advertised horsepower or to get them to pass emmissions. Shelby does not get grouped in with the rapers....eh tuners you named. Had my 99GT for 5 years with 450+ crank horsepower and never had a warranty issue. My Cobra has 530+ crank horsepower and has never had a warranty issue. What, Mustangs with 50 or 100+ more power at the wheels than a Corvette has at the crank. There still slower though, because just by putting the name corvette on a car shaves 2 full seconds off the ET.

DISCLAIMER: I never said anything bad about the Vette (happen to like them) just that a Mustang can and will beat it with about $7K of mods. That is and was my only point about the Vette / Mustang issue.

Yeah , right on . People are doing this now and have some very reliable faster than stock c6 cars. for 1/2 the $$$

Any car can be made fast and sometimes be reliable. I've had two supercharged mustangs, one a 95 and my latest, an 03 Cobra. The Cobra was very reliable and would smoke my new C6 in a straight line (with the mods it had). My 95 would have smoked both my Cobra and Vette but was not reliable at all. My bone stock C6 feels like my Cobra did with an exhuast and cat-back. Less power for sure but much lighter. The vette however is a better car, quality and handling specifically, as it should be being its a true sports car with a higher entry price. The new 05 mustangs I think steps things up a bit with quality and handling. Putting a blower on it is a great way to put it ahead in speed over more expensive vehicles. That in itself does not make it a better car though. It's simply a faster car in a straight line. I think when I track my vette (1/4 mile), I'm going to get owned by many supercharged stangs just like I used to do in my Cobra (a few C5's went down) but I will definitely go home with a big smile on my face regardless. Love the new vette

Trust me I am up on the Whipple S/C and am one of the first in line for one once they finally hit production. Please don't confuse what I have said:

I am not saying that you cannot make a Mustang faster in the 1/4 mile than a Corvette. But drag racing does not a sports car make. I'm saying (and have said throughout this thread) that the C6 is a better all around car. And as 95GTS pointed out, it should be for twice the price.
My contention was that slapping a $5000 supercharger on an '05 GT WILL NOT make it all around competitive with a C6 (accelleration is not the only aspect to cars gentlemen). I have every intention of following a similar route and hunting down a local C5 that has been abusing lots of fellow stangers. But I know that in the end mine is a $25k car and his is a $50k car.
After all there are 10 second preludes out there that can blow my doors but that doesn't make them a better car.

There is the key word. Stock. Come over and read the Vette boards, and see how many are "stock". Very few that are racing, I guarantee.

A lightweight car like the Vette doesn't need much to get it moving. I've been searching Corvetteforum.com for times since I haven't had the chance to go to the track yet. For example, a certain bone stock C6 m6 ran a 12.7@113 on street tires. Another ran 12.3@117 with a custom tune and 160 degree thermostat as the only mods (Popular Hotrodding did that one). Some dispute as to whether or not the new C6 has a torque management that slows the car a bit when launching. Might be why such a big difference in the mph between stock and tuned new Vettes.

Just saw a dyno of a C6 with long tubes, cam, cat-back and tune hit 460rwhp/425rwtq SAE while another with a less aggressive cam hit 441/412. This is on a car that can weigh in as little as 3160lbs with less than a quarter tank. It's going to fly.

You supercharged stangs can pick on me since my car will remain basically stock for the next three years (read: warranty). Still love mustangs and would much rather get beat by a bolt-on/supercharged stang than any import.

Again, love the hostility. The point was about stock, the question was about stock. Anyone can mod and mod some more to beat the next guy. Only addressing a statement about a 05 supercharged vs a stock C6. MMFF has a 05 GT with 700 twin turbo rearwheel horsepower running 8's so the 450hp rwhp corvette guys can look at the ass end of that for awhile, but who cares, the statement was only about a supercharged 05 GT vs a STOCK C6. Can you understand that without being insulted.

Any car can run whatever you want with enough money, throw a viper motor in a go kart and let it rip but again, that is not what we were talking about. Sorry that this bothers you so much.

So what, that is not what the point was. No one said putting a supercharger on it would make it handle better. An 11 second supercharged 05 will beat a 12 second C6 unless you live in a dimesion were 12 is faster than 11. Does this mean all Corvette owners should want a Mustang? NO. Does it mean all Corvettes run 12's. NO. Does it mean anything other than what it means? NO. it is simply a statement of a basic fact. Somewhere out there is a 7 second Civic that will beat them both should we all buy Civics now? NO.

Every tenth of a second equals a car length. That's why a half a second might not seem very close.

Sawman, you seem to the only hostile entity around. And it really seems to bother you that anyone would disagree. Anyone that disagrees with you is quoted and argued with whether you truly represent what they had to say or not.
You argued with me about what I said to royb and started this trail down "An '05 supercharged Mustang will "waste" a C6" when that wasn't the point of our (royb's and mine) discussion.
I never said a S/C made any car handle better. I pointed out all the shortcomings the Mustang had in relation to the 'Vette and how a $5000 add on would not fix that. I would say 95GTS is the resident expert since he actually owned both cars.

Uh... .5 seconds in the quarter mile is a HUGE difference and .5 seconds 0-60 is even bigger.

I beat my friends STI consistently by .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile and I'm usually ahead 4-5 car lenghts when I cross the line.

Damn, beating your friends Sti is damn good, those cars launch like raped apes!!!. My car got .3 secs in the 1/4 after i got some miles on it +5k. Any one else experience this? I just sold my 96 Z-28 and got a 05 Z-51 auto vette. All I can say is AWESOME power 12.66 1/4 mile stock except for Corsa sport exhaust. To tell you the truth though, the Mustang sounds better and looks more aggressive. The 05 stang, in my opinion, is definitely the best value dollar for dollar..hands down. Current cars 05 Z51 vette 05 Mustang GT wife has 05 Inifinti G35 sport coupe( damn thing beat my 96 z-28 before trade in, gotta read up on the performance specs) 94 olds cutlass conver. Long live the stang!!! If the stang gets a +25 hp jump in 06 or 07 look out!!
