I was hoping my 289 would hold out until the winter but in May, it decided it had enough of the Paxton and decided to blow out 2 pistons. So I let the car sit for a few months and with the big OC End of summer cruise fast approaching (3 weeks to be exact) I finally had to get off my butt and get this car running again. So after getting everything purchased, built, ripped down, cleaned up, repainted ect ect ect, I was actually able to get the car done with 2 days to spare (break in time). This did not leave me much time for error as I had to drive the car 150 miles one way to get to the cruise. Needles to say I made it there and back with no problems. The car ran like a beast (after the break in time ) and as you can imagine, I'm very pleased. Here are pics from start to finish.

Here is what it looked like before (the only pic I had where you can see the engine)

Engine bay now painted tungsten grey to match the stripes. The block is a Dart block with a 347 stroker kit with a low 8.8:1 compression.

Everything just about on now. Blower painted screaming yellow like the rest of the car. All brackets, intake and what ever could be powder coated was.

Just add the hood and the PCV hose and she's Complete. There is also a crankcase evacuation pump (that is hidden under the left fender that you can not see) using a pump for an 03 cobra.

Great looking build! How was the OC cruise this year? I normally make it down for that cruise. It's the best around.

Wow, that car must run like a beast. That Paxton looks awesome. You did a great job. It looks modern and classic.
Have you thought about the Shelby drop and a big sway bar?

Thanks guys!!! The cuise was awesome, some of the best weather we have had in a long time.

My suspension is this winters project. I have it bought just need the time to get it done. I might go with the shelby drop or at the least will do the old cut a 1/4 of the coil off, to lower it a bit. I have the 620 springs in there and man they really lifted the front pretty high.

Actually it wasn't that bad doing the engine compartment and engine engine/tranny swap. I just had everything lined up for a massive assault and was able to get it done in time (with the help of my 2 buddies). Like always you run into snags but thank god for summit and over night shipping (lifter issue) at the 11th hour

So my winter projects are going to be the front suspension rebuild and lowering, Hydraulic clutch and rear disc brakes. Those brakes can't some soon enough

Matt

Thanks Springtime. And I have a feeling you also drive a yellow (springtime yellow) car
