A couple of days ago, my 66 mustang started to get a lil hot and the coolant started to boil. I was close to home so I just parked it and let it cool off for a day. The next day, I look and have basically no coolant, so I fill it up and drive it today. As I'm driving home, I notice that it's starting to get hot again. By the time I'm home, the coolant is boiling once again and coolant comes out of the radiator. The coolant was not leaking the night before and while I had it parked during the day. When I drove it during the morning, it worked fine, but during the hot day it wasn't. Plus, the car was cooling fine last summer with the a/c on and everything running. The only thing I've changed since then is to rebuild the transmission. What do you think the problem could be?

Overheating I could tell you. However, I took my trans lines out of my stock radiator a long time ago and I ran a bit cooler. I do have an auxilary coooler up front. If your in a cooler climate then here in so cal I would suggest the aux cooler. Check to see if yoru trans fluid is burnt. Will smell like burnt popcorn. If it is it might be adding heat to the engine, but thats a guess.

Your overheating could be one of several things. It could be a thermostat sticking, blown head gasket or a leak that starts after it has built up heat and pressure. A bad radiator cap can cause water loss. I would start with simple things first and then go from there. Let your car warm up and check for leaks. If it's not that you might check the thermostat. Check to see if you have oil in your coolant or coolant in your oil. I'm sure some more people will have some more ideas and will post. Good luck and hope it's something simple.

Turns out it was a stuck thermostat. It was quite hard to fix because of the horrible placement.

After I fixed it, my aftermarket radio decided to stop working. It went crazy and won't always show the display and none of the buttons work and it won't play any music. Any ideas on that?

Good job on the fix, but why do you need a radio? The sound of a Ford V8 is the best 'music' IMO :D

Seriously tho, the radio prolly needs to be replaced. Sounds like an internal problem and not an easy fix.

Is it a custom autosound unit? Mine did this several days ago. The display would light up green, but the text/sound did not work. I took the battery loose, took the 2 fuses out of the black box in the radio power feed, and whacked it around a bit. Plugged it all back in... and it actually worked.
