Hello,

Im not that active here, but I thought it would be nice to share some pics of my project.

Please don't tell me more about my bad english skills, I come from Finland:).

I bought the car in 2005 and drove it as it was to the last fall when i started working on it.
This is how it was when i bought it:

The paint had many flaws in it(which don't show that good in pics, but anyway...)
View attachment 313160

I was thinking of getting it painted by professionals, but the 2 good painters i was told of(the other one I knew allready) were full of work allready, so my stang wasnt going get painted by either of them.....then i deciced to paint it myself:p

Well, so I started disassembling the car and here you can see how it started.

Some rust spot allready fixed by the previous owner:

I had seen lots of nice engine bays you americans had done, and I deciced to try to clean mine too.
First tried to remove all the paint:
View attachment 313164

Then weld the holes and weld some new panels in it, the arrow shows my mistake when i cut the sheet metal. I had to cut tiny slices to fit the place that the arrow shows....stupid me.

After more welding, some ''bondo'' (or whatever you call that thing) and primer:

More to come, the car is way ahead, but I won't put more pics in a one message. Feel free to say what you think.

Okay, heres some more:

when the engine bay was primered, I started to work on the outside of the car.
Front fenders had some holes so I had to weld those:

Got some pieces I was able to remove from the car primered:

This hood wasn't at the car originally, this is Maier Racings 3'' cowl hood.
Wasn't that bad, but the underside is not for show cars:rlaugh:

Meanwhile a shop here in Finland was building me an engine. As this is my first mustang, I wasn't that skilled with anything when it comes to engines(and many other things). So the engine is ''designed'' for my needs by the owner of that shop. It's a 331 stroker sbf with AFR heads.
I can give more details later, but some pics first.
This is how I saw it first time live, and I was about to drop my jaws all the way on the floor:jaw:
View attachment 313153

Only one part of the engine that is old and used, the power steering pump, which i ''restored'' from the old engine. I took it to the engine builder when i went to see it.
View attachment 313154

We deciced to get the engine dynoed. Both to make sure it was ''healthy'' and to get the numbers.
We both were impressed,
it made peak 402hp @ 6200rpm
peak torque 383tq @ 5000 and
about 306 tq @ 2000
We pulled it to the 6500.
:nice:

Here's photo from the dyno session:

Still more to come....As I said the project is more ahead, soon i'll get to the point where I really am ATM. More in the next post.

love the 82's, although you dont have the front lip and hood scoop that makes them stand out. nice progress so far!
Thanks. As the project goes on you'll find out that we have quite similar taste;)

looks good. i bet you catch hell ordering performance parts. like form jegs and stuff. shipping must be insane.
Luckilly the shop that build the engine imports almost anything the customer want's to have from US or Europe.....but yeah, it isn't the same price that you pay to your local parts dealer in US. Every part outside Europe has to clear through customs and then we have to pay 22% tax for everything including shipping costs:notnice:...

Thanks for your praises NikwoaC and Flavadave4. More pics are coming right away.

Installed shift kit in the AOD and cleaned it.

Got the Edge Racing converter from Andre. The other one is stock T/C.

Also bought the TCIs direct shaft, which was an unarmed robbery, when it comes to price:mad:

I had problems with my gauges. Only one that was working properly was the water temperature gauge....someone had broken the switch totally that you can change the rpm meter to 4, 6 or 8 cyl engine, so first I thought the old engine was revving about 9000rpm:rlaugh:. Also the speedometer showed about 20kmh(about 12mph)over the real speed. That would have been easy to fix by the little gear in trans, but the voltagemeter and oil pressure gauges were also broken so I deciced to ditch the whole gauge assembly.

Ordered the Nordskog universal gauge panel. One friend who worked in same place that I, did the new gauge plate for me. He does almost everything of plastic(lexan-like, if you know what I mean).
View attachment 313139
I Coated the plate with plastic ''wooden'' tape.
This is how it looks like when working:
View attachment 313140
Covered everything else with that same tapeing. Easy to remove or change whenever I start to dislike it. It isn't that light in person.

The seats was looking awful, and they had different upholstery front and back so i got the backseat reupholstered by local guy:

Also testfitted the longtube headers. BTW, the engine was dynoed with shorty headers, because I was about to use shorties but changed my mind, so it may have even more horses that it produced in the dyno.
These headers are Jegs's cheap ones:
View attachment 313142

I had to weld the seams, since I tried the water test and most of the leaked...

Painted the headers:

That's my dog ''Remu'' sniffing the fresh paint:lol:

No we get to the paint:D. Some backrounds first. I have never painted a car before. I only have painted some minor things like that power steering pump and stuff.
I read alot from internet before I started the painting process, and since the primering was succeeding good enough for me, I started to paint the outside of the car. I deciced to go two toned. Blue and white. White is the ''main'' color I would say, so I painted the door jambs and hatch white:
View attachment 313131
The paint is PPG product. Very hard to get basecoat/clearcoat white, and this was some kind of old mixture that could only been sold to professional painters since it is so hazardous:(......but I have my ways. One liter(a bit over quart) at time from here and another there + other guy to buy it for me aswell.....FREAKING EU:notnice:

Anyway, I did the enginebay first because I wanted to try how well does the 2 tone spraying work, done by me. Heres the blue I used. Toyota/Lexus Spectra Blue Mica(pearl):
View attachment 313132
Not that light in person this either.

Engine bay basecoated, blue shows the flaws of prepping very(too clearly), but I wasn't on a mood to fix it anymore, it's only an engine bay:

Don't know what you guys and girls think but I'm happy with it. As a first time painter I am proud of how it came up. Also some of you(if not all) may not like the blue line, but I'd say it suits the looks of a ''square''-fox.

LX-style rear spoiler will continue the blue line. I will also put a Xenon airdam, which I picked up last week along with the wheels I'm going to put(got only rear wheels for now) and some other stuff.

These are the wheels I'm putting on it:
View attachment 313119

View attachment 313120

Compared to the original? wheel with 195/60-15 tire.
View attachment 313121

These are 18''X10''. I would have like to go with 17'' wheels, but you can't get these in 17'' from the company that made these(wheelreplicas.com). Yes, you can get 17'' Magnum500 from Wheel Vintiques, but I'm not willing to pay 400-500$ for ONE wheel. You can almost get the whole set of these with the price of one Wheel Vintigues-wheel.

The reason I didn't get any cool 17'' wheels there are on a market, is that I have rear from 95-GT, It is about 3/4'' wider per side so none of Ford Racings 9'' wide wheel would stay in the wheel well at rear. These 18x10 are with 05-08 offset 45mm.
Fronts will be 18x9 with sn-95 offset (24mm).

Here is the rear end painted. It has 3.73 gears in it.
