here's the text:

Island motorists making it personal
Residents have many reasons, and pay lots of money, for special license plates
Monday, August 23, 2004
By STEPHEN HART
STATEN ISLAND ADVANCE

You can't help but notice Nick Senise's car. And that's just the way he likes it.

His black 1995 Ford Mustang does a good enough job standing apart from the crowd on its own merit, but a glance down under the rear bumper causes a double-take.

LAST 5.0.

"A personalized license plate gives the car that extra touch that no one else with that car has. It's unique," said the 20-year-old Huguenot resident. "You can have two identical cars with the same details and everything, but the personalized plate makes your car different."

STORIES BEHIND THE PLATES

For Senise, LAST 5.0 stems from "the last year that Ford offered a 5.0 liter engine in their cars. My car is a '95 GT, thus it's the last year of the 5.0 engine. Mustangs are near and dear to my heart."

Senise carried his customizing one step further, adding an illegal dot between the numbers.

"I put it on myself, it's a piece of blue vinyl," he said. "Technically, you're not allowed to alter a plate. If anyone says anything, I'll take it off. But I get reaction from people all the time."

I did that too! Mine reads "5 (illegal blue vinyl dot) O"

BTW, I wouldn't really want my car type, license plate, and saying I have an illegal dot all over the newspaper...lol.

j/k CONGRATS!
