My bad experience with PATRIOT heads

They're being fixed by a local shop . Patriot told my they would fix them for free, replace or refund my money. It is costing me about $600 to have them fixed. If I got the heads refunded. It would still cost me the same amount of money to get some good heads. If I send them to be fixed by patriot. They could be f__ked up again. I can't chance that again. The problems: One guide's hole was big enough to have had the next size guide placed in it. It was very loose. I have'nt found out about the rest of them yet. The valve job was'nt good at all. The guides for the exhaust valve didn't have enough clearance. The valves were stuck in the guides. I was making good power the way they were. Once I get it back together it should make more power. I will say the heads are cheaper, but in the long run they are more expensive. Once you add all the labor to pull the engine and have them pulled off , fixed, installed and reinstall the engine. Maybe you guys get the point. I do wish I would have bought different heads in the beginning. I guess because this other shop is redoing my heads that will make them not be Patriot any more. What a headache these heads have been.

Yeah he has posted this on every site he can find.. from what i understand he bought them mid last year. I bought mine in October of last year and they have performed beautifully and the customer service is as good if not better than anywhere else. they spent alot of time on the phone with me helping me pick piston and other components that they really didnt have to do... Gunner @ patriot FTW:nice:

IDK, but to me, the key point with a company is if they are willing to stand behind their products. If they offered to make it right, I don't know that they deserve to be black-balled. Any company can have a problem, but how they address the issue and take care of their customers is the telling point.

well put! I work in product service so I deal w/ consumer and commercial complaints with our products. Just because some of them have problems doesn't mean our products suck, and we always reimburse the customer for the defective products. It's just the nature of manufacturing, things don't always perform to spec, and that's why the company has to be up to the task of making things right with the paying customer.

He only offered to refund after I said I was going to post on all the mustang sites. Yes the heads were new june of last year. From day one my engine used alot of oil. I only found out this febuary with I had their weak springs replaced with endura-tech that I had cylinders leaking 40% after engine was assembled. I was told then it might make it the rest of the year. But this winter I need to pull the engine and have the heads fixed. Well, after I had my tq converter restalled I went to the track and one pass the engine started to tick. That is when I pulled the engine out again and sent the heads to be checked. If the heads had been right in the first place I wouldn't have this problem. It is not my fault their machining was not right. You say I'm dumb for not taking the refund. If I would have done that. They could have taken months to send me my money. Then when and if they sent my money I would have had to add the same $600 it's costing to fix. To buy a good set of heads. So, how is that dumb. Now the smart thing would have been for them to have covered some of the cost of the repairs. They didn't offer that. I only posted my experience as I have with any of the problems I've had with the car. If he had not posted back it would have fizzled out anyway. So, I like everytime he posts.I have alot of time and money in my car. It sucks that the problems I'm having has to do with the heads that are supposed to be of good quality.
