My brakes have always sucked. It sucks. They feel mooshy and dont really provide any stopping power till about 50% down. When I get on the brakes hard my brake light comes on. I Have bleeded each wheel and changed the pads. Whats the next step I should take?
Mushy brakes means air. Pushing the pedal down far enough to cause the light to come on can also be air. You MAY have to bleed the Master Cylinder, something I haven't done on our cars. DO you have ABS, 'cause it makes it MUCH more complicated to bleed them if you get air in the system ahead of the ABS module.
Wow. You learn something everyday. Maybe that's what's wrong with mine .... (they're mooshy also, but I don't get the brake light). I really need to upgrade.
invest in a little bottle pump bleeder.. like this one.. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/CAL-855.html i think u can pick one u for around 100 buck or so.you may need to buy the atachment for like 20 bucks to fit it on your car .. U fill the bottle with brake fluid and attach it to the res. above the master , You pump up the bottle, and then you have pressure on the system. after that all u have to do is crack the right rear caliper nipple , then the left rear ect..it will make your job a lot easyer bleeding them. Also check for rubber hoses on the brake lines that are bloated.
the best and cheapest way i found to bleed brakes is to get a vacume line about the size of the bleeding valve nipple and about 2-3 foot long. slip one end of vacume line on valve nipple must be a tight fit. place the other end of the vacume line into a 20 oz. soda bottle. pour some brake fluid into soda bottle.the end of vacume line must stay submerged below fluid line in bottle. losen brake bleeder valve place bottle on ground on level surface. pump brakes stopping to refill reservoir and drain excess from bottle continue until clear. don't let reservoir run dry.
