My car got F'ED up

Probalby just from the heat cycling of the heads and bolts, they worked themselves loose enough to put all the pressure on the bottom bolt.

I'm sorry that it happend to you man, but it should be a pretty easy fixer. Try slotting the remaining bolt for a screwdriver fitting. Save the easyout for a last resort because we all know what happens when those break off in a broken bolt / stud.

guys just ignore ryans question plaese, i dont want this to be another lets make fun of ryan thread and get it shut down, just let him know, ryan the rockers do not produce vibration to shake out 2 bolts torqued down.

Ill see what I can do about getting the bolt out, anyone have an idea what size bolts I need? im gonna need 3 new bolts, I have no idea on the size though.

all i did was ask a question the answer was a yes or no and what do they do? they add the stupid comments with it.

Sorry if you guys dont want me to make another response about this buuuut, I did answer your question. Next time you have a question, think about it for a while. Try to figure it out yourself. Start to read up about how motors work and what the things inside it do. I started by takin apart an old lawn mower. hahah it never went back together but I did start to realize what all the engine components do. Other wise your lack of knowledge is going to spark criticism. Sorry if I came off as a duuuutch bag.

Were you running a shortbelt as well? If you were, I'm just wondering if it had too much tension and thats why it snapped.

the belt didnt snap, but yes i am running a short belt, 74.5"

Yeah, thats what I meant. But I reread all the posts and I missed some. So the bolts backed themselves out, and the one stuck in there snapped as a result. Gotcha lol..

yea because the other two bolts are missing and I found the snapped bolt under my car when I shut her off, guess it was just installer error, whitch is me

oh yea btw. I think the thread size for the bolts you need is a 3/8ths coarse. I have a ton of these floating around in my bucket o hardware in my garage. Same thread pattern as the bell housing bolts.

Yeah, but realistically, you did a h/i intake without a whole lot of prior mechanical experience. It could have gone a lot worse, but you did that successfully, and the work wasnt for nothing. Minor boo boo.

yea i guess thats true

MAC do you have an idea of how long of a bolt I should get? bolts are really confusing to me, what does coarse mean? What kind of thread should I look for, i have a bunch of bolts laying around but some of the threads look more spaced out then others.

coarse means the distance between the threads are longer than a "fine" threaded bolt in which the threads are very close to eachother. I would just go to a JY and find the exact bolts.

kk thanks beast, thats what I was wondering, I dont know what JY is, I heard NAPA has all the bolts youll need for anything, maybe ill head up there, so i know what length I need.

fwiw I ran without having a bolt there for a few hundred miles, never had a problem.
OTOH, for getting it out, that would be tough as hell to drill out, what is that, a 3/8" or 7/16" bolt?
I would just say have something welded on there to back it out with, but Im not sure I'd do that with aluminum heads. GL

or maybe you change the radio stations too much and the tuner vibrated them out?
