Alright so every mod I've done to my car has taken 10x longer than it really should and it's continuing again. CAI took me 2 hours to do because I didn't take the strut brace off and couldn't maneuver my hand in the fender to put on the filter.

Catback had the bolts welded from the H-pipe to the mufflers so we had to buy a dremel, cut all 4, and drill all 4 out. Took 2 days to do and we had to buy a dremel and also went through 8 drill bits even though they were continuously drenched in Mobil1 while drilling.

Cam/Manifold swap one bolt seized into the head and we snapped the bolt 2x trying to torque it out before we were forced to drill it out.

NOW TODAY:
I got my prochamber and figured "self...you know how this goes...have a shop do it"
So I got quoted $50 to install the midpipe and was like good enough for me. I dropped the car off at 5 this afternoon expecting it to take 1-2 hours. It is now 10:29 and they still haven't gotten the passenger side portion of the stock midpipe off of the header. Both bolts were seized, 1 snapped and fell out and the other is rounded off and seized in no matter how much lube/heat they put on it. They aren't expecting the car to be done til tomorrow. These guys are good believe me, they are really cool too, but it just goes to show this car is frickin cursed! They've been working on it basically from 530 to now with some breaks just because the car is pissing them off so much. They had to go out and buy a bolt removal kit because their tools broke trying to mess with it. I'm thinking right now that if I'd have actually tried this job on jack stands in my driveway that I'd be in jail on multiple murder charges...The final price will probably be higher than $50 too but thats cool by me because I can only imagine what I'd be doing right now if we'd attempted it at home.

Just had to semi-rant about that because this just made me a true believer that the car will make any job 10x more difficult than it has to be.

Why did you not remove the STB?

The right tool makes all the difference in this case it would have been a die grinder...

You made the right decision, exhaust work SUCKS and $50 to do midpipe is SO worth it. Even if it ends up being more, still worth it.

Grand total is $150 for the install which im MORE than willing to pay because they worked their asses off on it...they're only getting $18.50 an hour for 2 people...I feel bad almost. Either way it sounds badass now

As for not removing the STB

Cold air was my first step in the modding world and I was giddy at 11pm to install it.

The right tools cost $$$ and we didn't have them. The dremel has helped in other situations so it's a worthwhile investment.

The manifold bolt was just a ***** yeah.

My MIL Elims aren't working...I've had to clear the following codes 2x now ...02 Heat something or other on both banks, rear 02 malfunction both banks, Rich 02 reading both banks. I'm going to have to put up with that til I get it dynotuned more than likely. So much for any hope of decent gas mileage.

hey don't get discouraged. mil elims suck horse ****. they don't work all the time. read my thread (moral dilema) and a gut posted up on how to do the mil mod. I did this method and now the car runs smoother and there is no p0420 code (prolly what your getting too). it only cost me 4.25 and bout 2 hours and it paid off.

your cats prolly flow more than stock therefore it reads at a higher reading and throws the code. on these cars its like if the exhaust is sneezed on it throws that stupid code.
