I went to the local drag strip this sunday, it was a big event so i only got to run 3 times. The first pass I was really nervous and drove around the waterbox and didn't burnout (street tires). See timeslip
Well I have heard people say "You'll run slower your first time down!" But this was different. After having a predicatbly bad reaction time I got out of the hole at what i thought was a decent pace. However as soon as I shifted second the RPMs shot up, as with 3rd and 4th. By half-track my speedo read 110MPH and 6000RPMs. Just as i was thinking this isnt right i began to get sideways and almost crossed the centerline narrowly recovering. At this point I let off and coasted the rest to an embarresing 23 @ 39MPH. Later i learned that the 2 cars in front of me had done the same thing and I was kind of frustrated with the track prep people.
Cliff Notes: Noob runs 23, almost loses it. Later runs a 14.0 and wants to go back asap for more!
