I went to the local drag strip this sunday, it was a big event so i only got to run 3 times. The first pass I was really nervous and drove around the waterbox and didn't burnout (street tires). See timeslip

Well I have heard people say "You'll run slower your first time down!" But this was different. After having a predicatbly bad reaction time I got out of the hole at what i thought was a decent pace. However as soon as I shifted second the RPMs shot up, as with 3rd and 4th. By half-track my speedo read 110MPH and 6000RPMs. Just as i was thinking this isnt right i began to get sideways and almost crossed the centerline narrowly recovering. At this point I let off and coasted the rest to an embarresing 23 @ 39MPH. Later i learned that the 2 cars in front of me had done the same thing and I was kind of frustrated with the track prep people. So after this first run I was a little scared to get back in there but i did.. Ran a 14.4 almost stalling on the launch. The final run of the day was OK but i feel I could have run much faster as the launch seemed less then spirited. Here's the slip.

Cliff Notes: Noob runs 23, almost loses it. Later runs a 14.0 and wants to go back asap for more!

It is very addicting! I go about twice a month and sometimes that doesn't seem like enough!

Thats some CRAPPY prep if a bolt on GT is spinning the tires to 110mph, they use oil or something instead of the glue? hah.

Thanks Yeah the track prep was crap, something was on the track because i drove around the waterbox and made sure my tires were dry and at the right pressure. There was a green S197 2 cars up that had the same problem. After that they got it straightened out though and it went smoothly. I was wondering what that trap would be if the 60' was lower.. Wouldn't that drop the trap speed but boost the ET?

I pulled a couple of 2.01x's 60's and both times I ran in the low 13.7x's @ 101 mph. Its hard to say what your mph would be with a better 60. I've ran a 14.3X @ 102 mph before, with a 2.3X 60 ft. My guess would be your car is very capable of 13.6X-7X's all day with 2.0 60's and your trap would be anywhere from 99-102 mph.
