My dream sleeper

it sucks (I know) to be on the receiving end

I was at work last night hating my job as usual so i started day dreaming about what i would build if i were building the ultimate sleeper. I thought about trying to find an old Ghia coupe or maybe a Fairmont, but these days you can't build either one and really be a sleeper because people expect them to be sleepers. Then i thought about maybe doing a V8 Miata, but i'm not into convertibles and i think they're chick cars. So, i decided i would build a V8/RWD Focus with a twist.

I'd start with a plain Jane white Focus, and i'd take the factory rims and have the backs widened to fit some decent rubber under it...no aftermarket wheels here. Then of course i'd do the necessary K member and rear end work to make it RWD. I thought about maybe a DOHC Cobra 4.6, but they're heavy and i want this thing to stay as light as possible, so i'd go with a World Products Man-O-War tall deck 351 and stroke it out to 460ci (yeah, they'll go that big). Then i'd back it with a Transzilla T56. I'd have a narrowed 9 inch built for the rear end and i'd house it with something around a 3.27 gear....because this baby is also getting twin turboed. Engine bay space is limited so i'd do one of those tail pipe turbo setups and tuck them up as high as possible to keep them out of sight. I'd even go so far as to have the duel exhaust routed flush side by side out one side of the rear end to keep the "duel exhaust" look out of the picture..i don't want any hints.

The beauty of this is that when sitting still and not running, the only way you're gonna have any clue as to what this car is packing is if you're curious enough to poke your head up under the car and you notice that it's RWD and you notice the turbos. Beyond that it's just gonna look like a typical white Focus commuter car until it fires up. Can you say twin turbo big block power in a light weight car?

so would a lambo, but I have no desire to own one of those either. now a TT porsche powering an old style bug would be a definite sleeper...

Weight don't mean chit when you have a Cobra motor. Boost that thing and it won't matter what it weighs.

I have over 100lbs in the trunk of my 04 and I've smoked a couple LSX cars already and pulled from my Dad's GT500 in a 3rd gear roll, while he was in 2nd gear. They are no joke with boost...and they're heavy. :nice:

Here's some more inspiration for your dream!

Oh i've got a bunch of vids on my PC of them. Plus i've seen a couple that have complete Cobra drivetrain in them from the engine to the T56 to the IRS. I just like the idea of pulling through a crowd of ricers in a Focus with a crazy lumpy cam and watching the looks on their faces as they try to figure out what's happening.

they built a concept focus with bigs and littles and an 03 cobra motor. seems like a waste to me, i like sleepers jsut as much as anyone else, but a focus?

nah. it would be cool....but not something mustang guys respect:rolleyes:.

an 03-04 cobra with v6 wheels and moldings/bumpers(of course save the cobra stuff) with one tailpipe coming out the back for even more v6 sleeper look would be nice.

...and when you pull into wherever everyone is, and your car sounds like chuck norris's definition of insane and smells like race gas. no one will race you because its obviously not a sleeper, it would be bad ass, and quick, but you could never pass it off as a focus lol

putting an stockish LS2 with a 250 shot in a rusty old coupe... now thats a sleeper, and a sleeper that mustang guys would respect too, cuz you'd rape all of them.
