My e-brake cable snapped!

I was going to wash my car on my lunch break and pulled up on my ebrake when I came to a stop. THe back of the ebrake and stopper thing snapped off and fell on the ground and now I have no emergency brake. I figure i'm going to have to take apart my console and re-install a new cable but are there any tips I should know before going into this? Thanks

1st: it takes two people to rewind the spring in the handle, one to hold and insert an allen wrench or something in the hole, and one to wind it up.. 2nd: no matter what the dealer tells you, the part can be had through Ford and it's not expensive... I have seen several people say they couldn't get one at the stealership.. try another if you have trouble..
