well after racing my friend on the highway my car is now smoking a little more than usual and kinda sounds like a disel.I just got a cobra intake and 70mm throttle body put on a couple days ago and the car really hasnt been running right. tis been stalling and fells much slower at the higher rpms. I just was wondering what you guys thought.

sounds like its runnin rich any detination?

Running rich and detonating??? do you mean lean?

anyways, its not the best idea in the world to try and race someone when your car is already having problems man! But, Hindsight is 20/20 and you probably don't want anyone giving you a speech....

Im gonna go with vaccum leak on this one as well.

Sounds like you 'injured' something. I'd start by pulling the diagnostic codes and see if anything is up with the efi/ignition system. Depending on that result, it might be time to start checking the mechanical bits. You haven't really given us much to go on.

Diesel - is it the detonation, or is it rocker/lifter noise? Or perhaps an exhaust leak? You'd be surprised how similar those can sound. How much is it smoking? On acceleration? On deceleration? Both?

Does the noise change in frequency matching revs? Does it do it idle? At light cruise? At w.o.t.? Is it noisier under a particular set of conditions? Does it not do it at light cruise, but start doing it when you ease into the gas in a higher gear? Does it do it more/less when the car is cold/hot? Have you driven it enough to know how much oil it's consuming (a quart lasts how many miles)? Is it leaking oil? How many miles on the car?

the noise isnt at idel, it makes it when i get on the gas lightly, i havent really floored it since it made that noise so i would assume it does it at high rpm's also. it dose it in all gears too i believe. the car has been consuming oil and smoking, id say about a half a quart every other week maybe. theres about 100k on the motor and it really doesnt leak oil, just burns it.
