Ok friday night i installed my o/r bassani xpipe, and i have the borla aggressive exhaust, it sounded great with the stock hpipe but just wanted it to be a little louder, i heard that the bassani o/r x and the borla exhaust was a good combo, well we installed everything and started it up and it is as raspy as it gets and it makes a god awful sound when u rev it up and let off sounds like trumpets playing or something, and the tone of it isnt deep at all and its really high pitched and has a real bad tin can sound (if that makes any since) at about 3000 rpm. ive heard alot of people have this setup and they say it sounds awesome, there is no way anyone in their right mind would think my car sounds good, any suggestions? could i have done something wrong? and yes i did take it to a muffler shop to have everything checked for leaks, sorry for the ranting just sick to my stomach

X-pipes tend to sound more raspy, and H-pipes more throaty. Perhaps the reviews you read were from owners that liked a raspy sounding exhaust.
However, this may make you feel better about your selection => X-pipes are claimed to make more power in the upper rpm range.

get some resonators welded in, or some high flow cats. my favorite pipe i've ever heard for these cars are the bassani catted X. nice and deep but still have that throatyness to it.

with cats on it'll still be louder then the stock pipe.

friends got a catted X from BBK and its way too raspy for my taste.

It only sounds like crap from the inside. I was seriously thinking about changing my bassani system out until someone told me it sounded really good.
So I let a friend drive my car (reluctantly) and it sounds totally different. I know what you mean abt that high pitched tin can sound. I hate it. But at WOT, go**amn it sounds awesome. Listen to it while someone else drives it first if you already haven't before you give up on it. Good Luck:nice:

thanks alot for the feedback, the sound is ok but it cackles when u let off of it and sounds like a 80's f150 with holes in the exhaust lol, guess im just used to deep throaty sounds, any suggestions on a new setup if i decide to sell this one?

ive heard headers get rid of the trumet sound...myself im one of the guys that like the raspy sound but ive been around racing all my life and open headers and such is what ive came acustomed too...but everyone likes different sounds...imo the 302 shorties o/r h-pipe and flowmasters sounded the best for that deep sound...but the 4.6 are a whole new beast....

yea its the stingers, you would just have to hear it i guess, the only way to describe it is like a tincan with bb's in it when it revs up, kinda sounds like my buddies old v6 ford probe with strait pipe lol, it was nice and deep without the x pipe, did you hear your borlas before you installed the prochamber? or did you do them both at the same time?

I heard the stingers several times before I bought mine and really liked them. I already had the prochamber installed and it sounds great by itself just not loud enough for my tastes. When I eventually found a great deal from a forum member here I bought a set and never looked back. The sound is amazing.

I know the sound you describe, it's the x-pipe that's causing it. Get rid of it and get yourself an H or a prochamber. Just my .02

I had the same issue with my off-road h-pipe and FlowMasters. The headers eliminated the trumpet sound completely. Also, it made the ride MUCH smoother. I found that the un-catted exhaust made the car vibrate.

The headers made it sounds better, and feel better.
