my intake finally cracked, got some questions?

The terms of the settle include:

• Ford will reimburse customers with receipts for the intake repair.
• Ford will pay $735.00 to those without receipts, provided that they can verify with a dealership that a repair was made.
• Ford will extend the warranty coverage for customers whose intakes have not failed.


I wonder if anyone tried to get their reimbursment now.

i didnt even try to get reimbursed. it cracked, i bought a PI kit, and that was that.....for about $300 and a saturday's worth of work.....completely worth it.

thanks for all the info guys, i guess my wallet will be $300 lighter. doesn't matter this swap was going to happen sooner or later, just was hoping it was later when the funds were better. and i've read ford has one last hearing at the end of september and then it will go through the dmv or something to contact whoever is eligible for the recall, reimbursement, or whatever. one last thing, can someone direct me to some good links or pictures on using the rtv and pi gaskets to make this whole thing work, just to see exactly where the ports are off so that they need the rtv.

This is the EXACT kit i ordered. the guy is great, answered all of my questions and shipped it super fast. The kit includes absolutely everything needed or even some things you dont NEED but makes the swap easier. He also includes extremely detailed drawing and instructions that show you exactly where to place the RTV and how much and what type of rtv to use. I suggest you get it from him, i did and followed his instructions and ive had absolutely no problems for 3 months with hard driving and track days. Another reason i ordered his kit is that it is already drilled and tapped at the crossover for the second coolant temp sensor, so no fabrication or miving sensors on your part...it really is a bolt-on type of kit.

98 Mercury Grand Marquis 99,000 miles: just cracked! Has anyone tried JB Weld? Mine appears to be a small hole or crack below the thermostat housing.

Just installed my intake from Custom Mustangs of South Florida: no problems, great service.
As a side note, you can patch the intake with plastic radiator repair to stop the leak. I did this so I could drive mine to the garage instead of towing and it held fine and didn't leak a drop. I had a crack from the thermo. housing to the bottom of the upper part of the intake.

I know this is a newbie question but what kind of intake do i have on my 2002 gt?, is it the one that is cracking or did ford put in a different one? And is it worth the money to swap it out to an aftermarket one?
