My Katrina car

Hey guy i've been lurking around these pages for a few months now so now i'm taking some time to show you my project. I call it Katrina because it was one of the many cars lost in the flood. I was able to save this one and bring it back to life after scooping 6 inch's of mud out of it.. I still have some work but the hard work is just about done. I live in Michigan so all the work pays off because it's rust free and thats pretty hard to find up here in the rust belt. Heres's a few pic's of what it looks like right now. Next step is some paint and wheels. Interior is just about done now that i found all my black pieces.

FYI....that wasn't just mud

She is looking pretty good though. Keep us posted.

Dude...what year is that car...if it is a true 87-88 and not a converted 4-eye...AND it is an original 5.0 car AND it is a factory LX...with t-tops...that is RARE!!!

Interior looks great...and I think with a little work on the outside it can be an amazing ride!!

Thanks guys. It's still rough but it's getting there slowly. Yes it's a true 87 LX 5.0 5-speed T-top car. I think i'll keep it the factory light blue and repaint the side moldings black again. The interior was light blue but when i got it it was more of a fuzzy green and gray. The engine, tranny and rear-end were locked up and were trash. My brother had a 93 vert that was his everyday car untill "that day". I parted out the car and used as much as i could from it.

and what the hell happened to that vert?? it looks like a meteor hit it

My brothers brother inlaw was driving when he lost it. It was like 3-4 am, he was ok and walked home. Cops found it about 6:30am in the parking lot it landed in. That was about 50 yards off the road. It was 100% mint and 100% stock. He was the 2nd owner and bought it from a 62 year old lady in FL. Flew down there and drove it home. I got it off my brother for 350 bucks.

That vert is my favorite factory color combo, and by the looks of the vert beforehand....I wanna cry and it ain't even my car.

Not to sure what happen to him. He sticks to the story that it was stole from him at a party. The party was about 30 miles from his house but the car was found only 2 miles from his house. "keys still in it" My brother could'nt prove anything because there was'nt a scratch or mark on him. I think he was drunk, just went limp and went for a ride. I'm sure if he was sober he would have beem messed up. My brother was heart broke for a bit but a nice 93 GT vert changed that for him oneday. It's not as nice as the silver one but it's an awsome car none the less.

I'm not sure what you guys call these but up here in michigan our little group call them tuxedo GT's. Black with white leather. I'm sure someday we will swap it over to the black with what vert parts i have left.

The verts are nice, I'm sure, but thats what they do when met with stationary objects- fold up like lawn chairs. That spot just behind the firewall. They tend to do that when raced consistently, too. Back on topic, very nice diving catch of that 87, great save! I bet there was more than one good find for the smart hotrod hunter down there. Keep that color, it looks sweet- nice car!

I'd put some full length subframe connectors on that black vert, that will help keep it together. When I saw pics of that silver vert the first thing that popped into my head was drunk driving.

The blue one you're working on now is sweet, glad you could save it.

I would really like to put something under it to stiffen it up but he's a stock kinda guy. It was work just to talk him into h-pipe and flows. I'm not sure it would have helped the silver one at all tho. That thing way a mess. the trans was cracked in two places. the bell was cracked all the way around and the tail was also. It only had about 60k on it so the rear-end and engine found a new home in the T-top car. Along with a crap load of other parts. I'm not a fan of T-top cars, infact i hate them but i could let it die the way it was. I respect the car for what it is because they are'nt rare but they are getting hard to find. If there would have been any rust on it i would have got the coupe i went down there to get. I saw it was rust free and a t-top car and the coupe had some rust on it and there was damage to the A-piller. this one needs less work so i took it insted.
