I havent been active on the forums lately so I thought Id post a progress thread. I grew up in the 94-95 forums so I thought Id post here first.

Ill post up a list of all the mods soon but Ill show some pics of the buildup first. And please. I already know there is a bowtie in the car. No need for flaming. So here they are.

First day of the teardown. I was oiginally doing a turbo so I started with a 5-lug swap. 95gt Rear End with disc brakes. 96+ Spindles. 04 Cobra brakes. I also did coilovers and CC plates at this time and tubular front control arms.

Then there was the arrival of the LS1 and 6-speed complete with accesoories and PCM. The K-Member and new 95gt power steering rack showed up as well.

Then After some finess and a clearenced oil pan later we got the motor to sit in the bay. I upgraded to a 95gt master and booster as well. (Biggest PITA)

And that all the pictures for now. Ill get some new pics as soon as I get new batteries for the digi camera.

I finally got to start the car last night about about 9pm. Hooked up the fuel system. Got the radiator in. All the lines hooked up and the exhaust on. It fired right up.

So As soon as I boorow a video camera we will have some vids up.

And thanks to the people who answered little questions here and there about fuel system stuff and what not.

Enjoy.

-Puts on flamesuit now- LOL

Did I just read this correctly. LS1 Engine!! Damn, I'm pretty sure you had your reasons. It's a pretty solid engine, but you're still a trader. That car is gonna haul some serious ass with that motor in there. Good luck the rest of the way.

Nice project, that car is going to be quick. Is the ls1 all stock? That car will make great sleeper though if you leave it looking like it does now.

You know the Dr. Pepper mod (Second pic from bottom) is good for 10-15 rwhp.

The motor will stay untouched untill Im confident that all the bugs have been worked out. I have a cam ready to go in. A ls6 intake was put on last night. Alls I need to decide is what heads to go with.

Im not a fan of Chevy powered Fords, but that's flippin awesome! I didn't realize the LS1 was so small, that's insane you'll have all that hood clearance and so much power.

LOL. That old 5.0 was an even trade for the ls1 and 6-speed

Although I kept the alternator. Anyone need a stock alternator with a lifetime warentee. $20 Who wants it. Im using it as a paper weight right now.

I must say though. the pictures dont do it justice. After putting on the fuel system/radiator/sn95 fan and putting on the wiring harness and exhaust and stuff. It looks sweet. It really looks ugly under the hood in those pictures.

I'm not a fan of mixing engines from different brands but that will be a pretty nice setup when your finished. I love the LS1 but I personally would never put a ford engine in a chevy or vice versa. some nitrous will really wake that thing up nicely. many LS1 f bodies are running deep into the 11's with nitrous. just out of curiousity what kind of hp will a stock LS1 short block hold up to?

Ive seen a couple of peopl run cam only and a 200 shot. That was with 600rwhp and torque and it hasn't popped yet. But there is always an exception. Id say 550rwhp would be safe with a good tune.

Ive only heard of them popping when the rod bolts strech and rod goes out the side, or the ring lands decide to break apart with a lot of detonation. Ive honestly never seen a cracked LS1 block from power.

The only "aftermarket" block is the iron 6.0L block you can get, and of course the newer LS2-LS7 engines.

Straight trade LS1 for a 5.0? That guy is out of his mind! Good deal on your end. That thing is TINY in there. Makes me wonder why we have such massive intakes after going from an LS1 to a Ford, and why no one has come up with a setup like that for the 5.0 yet.

I too am not a fan of mixing different makes of cars and engines, but an LS1 in a notch is BAD ASS anyway you look at it. Keep this thread updated as I want to know what kind of numbers its puts out when its finished. We have a guy on our local boards doing the same swap right now.

Now that is a diff. take on the hobby.

I want to put a LSx motor in a 32 3 window (at some point in life build the car).

I have read about how the fox mustang is re-writing the history of hotroding (like old school hot rods with every make and model types put together and just in gen. fun fast americana') and in an extremely short period of time compared to the "older" hotrods.

It will be fun to see how it runs...I bet it will go damn near low 12's if not high 11's with a good 60ft./driver near stock. I have seen many make 32x rwhp preaty stock.

Cool project

Whats the reason for switching to a 95 P/S rack?

The 96+ spindles have a straight arm for the tie rods. They dont bend in towards the rack. So when you adjust the tie rods to get the right toe and bolt everything up there is only 3 threads threaded into the tierod. I dont trust that since I plan on hitting road america with this car.

Its an AGR rack you can find on summit. It basically a remanned 94+ rack. Make sure you get taurus tie rods because they are the right thread and pitch. The ones from your fox wont work if you try to reuse them with this swap.

I LOVE IT!

One of my favorite engines in one of my favorite cars. Can't wait to see some numbers.

All the chevy guys will be confused though when you are still able to keep up with them after 2nd gear.
