I have a set of Mac tf6470 ceramic coated long tubes and mocked them up with the 4r70w on an old 5.0 block, and they don't fit!! I really want to run long tubes, but i'm not real excited about some of the fitment/ground clearance issues I hear of with headman's.
I have a steeroids power rack, and the auto trans, does anyone have a good long tube they have had good things to say about with construction of at least 16ga, don't want any 18 gauge....

I run Hooker Comps but everything I've seen about the FPA headers is that they're awesome.

WHY don't they fit? my guess is "mocked them up with the 4r70w". They are designed to fit a stock engine/trans which would be a 289/302 and C4 or manual trans. I bet they are hitting the sides of the AOD pan?

I installed the same headers, they fit fine with the 289/C4, cleared the PS ram and all. Now I have installed an AOD and had to bend the collectors outward which bent the tubes outward causing them to hit the frame next to the gearbox and pitman arm. I'm still fighting to get them to fit without touching somewhere. I should have cut the collectors off just after the 4>1 and had them welded back on at a slight outward angle. That way they would have still hugged the block and given space next to the pan.

I'm debating on switching to Tri-Y's or midlengths if I can't get these to fit without interference. Bottom line is they weren't made to fit an AOD of any year and I haven't seen anyone offer them made to fit for AOD yet.

How much do you want to pay?
These headers are getting harder to find(I spent almost a year looking), and when you do they are $400. These are basically brand new, still have the gaskets and bolts too.
Shoot me an offer without insulting me, and I will consider it.

I haven't seen anyone offer them made to fit for AOD yet.

This is what I was looking at to replace them with.
Mustangs Unlimited - The Premier Source for Mustang, Shelby and Cougar Parts and Accessories
My additional problem is with the Steeroids rack and pinion, I have to make sure headers will clear my steering too! I've spent too much money on this car making everything right, and the way I want it, no point in stopping now . Thinking about getting a personalized license plate that says MY TURN

Well there you go, JBA makes them to fit an AOD, news to me but they still require a drop down bracket for PS? and the $800 price tag rules them out for me unfortunately. I don't know why it's so hard for them to clear the PS, the MACs do.
