basically I am using the parts on top that I had already, and replacing the block with the heads and cam, lifters ect. heh I had the block painted yellow, to match my car. My engine bay is black. This is being paired with a 4spd Top loader, and I have a 9inch rear.

So o knowing members of this forum, will she be worthy ?

I am running a 351w with almost the exact setup. Performer intake, aluminum heads(63cc)Holley SystemaxIIs, Ford Motorsports roller lifters, the track heat stage 1 roller cam TFS-51402000, 1 5/8 shorties, 650 Speed Demon, T-5, and was 3.50 posi but now 3.73s. I had way more power than the stock 302. I was getting 18mpg on the hiway. I think the intake is fine for a street and strip car. I barely clear the hood and had to modify the air cleaner to do so. The heads you have will give you more compression than me. The stage 1 cam is small, but perfect for a 302 based engine. I just bought a stage 2 TFS-51402001 for install soon. If you're digging into the block, going .040, why don't you just stroke it?

I came back to add- Opentracker runs a 650 Demon on his track car. I based my decision to run the 650 Demon off Opentracker's recommendation. A holley 650 double pumper should be fine(4777). Just tune it.

How much power did you make with your setup ? I may try a stroke kit, but I was going to see how this went. This is a street/strip car btw..def more steet than strip. I just do not want no dam honda's screwing with me :nono:

Ok. So my next question is..

Will these intakes fit underneath my hood ? I have a 65 coupe with the stock hood, and a scoop in it. I also have the ford racing oval air filter <black> one. I would like a Air gap, or this stealth I have heard about, but I am worried if it will fit under the hood.

Anyone running this type of setup with this type of hood ? Does it fit ?

They'll both fit fine, especially since you have a scoop. I'd go for the Stealth as its a little shorter than the AirGap and just as good IMO and cheaper. :D Edit: with a W in a 65 you'll NEED the extra space that the stealth leaves you. That intake is fairly tight with a 302.

Air gap is as high as Vic Jr....so no good for hood clearing!

Put a 750 holley, and stealth or rpm intake, and you will have a wicked screamer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That tiny cam works WONDERFULLY in a mild 351w on the street!

Make certain you have your car tuned....those pistons will take not much detonation abuse!

WTF? Detonation is bad, but I don't see whats so fragile about the pistons? KBs ARE the best on the market.

I am not trying to be a dick, but KB pistons are NO WHERE NEAR the best.

If they are not FORGED........then like all other casy/hyper pistons, they do not take much detonation before shattering, breaking.

Hence, my comment.

Good Info guys :) Keep it comming. I am going to go with a Stealth or a RPM then...I thought about porting some more, but the prices I was getting I might as well get a new intake !

The KB's I have are the Hyper ones, supposed to be 30% stronger... or at least that was what I was told they were, and I will def get the car tuned after I get it all together. Hopefully my block will arrive this weekend. I will keep the carb I have for now, but knowing I can go beefier will be geat. I may update then. I still want to get decent gas mileage out of this thing :) But knowing me, I will be slapping a bigger carb on top a lot sooner than later..heh I should just get it out of the way now..

Oh *****..what is the best then? I was all ready to dump my TRW forged pistons in favor of KBs because I don't really need forged. If KBs are no good, then what is?

Why wouldn't you need forged? You already have the TRW's?

Why do you want the best but not forged???? Forged are the best for any type of power production.

TRW forged would handle much more abuse than the KB hypers.

If you want to spend lots of money then look into JE, Mahle

It'll be a purely NA street motor...I can always build a turbo motor later :D I was always under the impression that hyper pistons were better for an NA street motor because their size stays more constant when they're heated, as compared to forged units. I cannot afford Mahle or JE

I have a question about a Intake..I have been offered a Torker II (Edelbrock) for my 351. Its been slighty ported, and the guy wants 150. Is the Torker II a decent intake ? Is it too much for my setup ? Not enough ?? I am basically going street/strip..more street than strip, but I still want to Feel it..if you know what I mean..Should I try this ? Or just get a RPM or Stealth ??

Most of what you read pertains to max effort engines where 1/10 of second makes a big difference. If this is for a street car you will most likely never notice the difference.

If you already have forged why would you spend any money to replace them with hypers?

Torker II is probably a tad bit much for your application. It will move the power band up in the rpm.
