Just want to say I got some new wheels and tires. and I just want to give my 2 cents because I know people here always ask the same questions again and again and never use the search feature. So hopefully this will answer some questions before more people ask the same thing

For christmas my wife bought me the 18x9 and 10x10 FR500 wheels.
and the other day I bought the Sumitomo HTRZ II 285-35-18(rears) and 265-35-18(front) tires

I used my big X shaped tire iron to get the stock wheels off and when I went to put on the new wheels the tire iron was too big to fit in the hole to screw the nut back in. so i had to use the spare tire iron that came with the spare tire kit. That defintely sucked. the whole job took an hour.

for the price the tire seems resonable. and they definitely felt sticker than my stock wheels when driving around. The tread pettern in my opinion looks aggressive and prollbly be very unwise to drive in anythign other than dry weather.

the front tires defintely stick out of the side of the car when looking at it head on. you can defintely tell they are bigger and beefier. its not something significant enough you could tell by looking at a picture.

turning the cars steering wheel from left lock to right lock I could tell that the tires where about a quarter inch from actually touching the wheel wells. If I got 275 sized tires I probabbly would have had to shave some of the styrophome like stuff off the inside of the wheel well where the tire would actually touch the wall.

If the car was lowered I would defintley have to say that the 265 sized tire would touch the inside of the wheel wells. I have seen some cars with large tires on lowered cars so your millage with your wheel/tire combination may vary.

the rear's like i said are 285. while defintely bigger than stock wheels I defintley feel that I could easily have fit 295 or maybe 305 size tires back there. I doubt that 315 would fit on an 18" wheel and look good. Also I wanted to play it safe and also save some money by not blowing it on the biggest tires i could find.

also placing a 265/285-35-18 tire next to a stock 245-45-17 wheels you can tell that the bigger/wider wheels are ever so slightly larger than the stock wheels. so your milage when drive may be thrown off ever so slightly by a small fractional number.

The total price for everything including shipping, parts, wheel/tire mounting was about $1300

hope this helps you out when you buy your tires and 18" wheels.

Sounds good. I've been looking at the same wheel/tire size combo but with Saleens. But the more I see the 500's...I wonder how the black chrome would look with yellow car?!?

Congrats on the new wheels! I remember how excited I was to finally get them on.... that lasted about a week.

I've got 18x9 Saleens up front with the same exact tires (Sumitomo HTR's 265/35/18) and I am lowered 1.6 in front and have no rubbing or contact what so ever at full turn.
