My newly bought mustang is missing air temp sensor.

Hello, I just bought 2003 mustang gt supercharged. It doesn't have an air temp sensor.

Wondering if there is a reason for that?

Is it ok to drive like that?

And also I tried to run a torque pro app, mainly for AFR gauge display. It won't read 02 sensor values. Does somebody know how to make it work?

And should I run 7qt. of oil? Thanks

Is the temp sensor missing or did it get moved to the airbox?

If the O2 sensors are narrow band (OEM) then there's nothing to read but High/Off/Low. The switching is fast and does not provide a data stream.

Narrow band sensors are not capable of providing AFR values.

I assume you're asking if whether you should run 5 or 7 qt in your 7-qt oil pan? That up to you.

My car has a vortech supercharger and a cone filter on it.




Another small problem I found is when you tap the throttle it hesitates for around 0.2 seconds.

Is there a way to kinda know if me car is running lean.

I'm kinda worried about running lean, car has sat in some shop for 2 years and could have fuel delivery problem.

Should I listen for pinging until I get my wideband installed in few days. Thanks

Your temp sensor has been relocated... Find it.

2003 Mustangs have the air temp sensor integrated into the Mass Air Sensor This was a change from having a separate sensor prior to 2001 or so.

Older Mustangs would have the IAT screwed into the air intake track right behind the MAF on stock setups. Ford started to do away with IAT sensors around that time and put it into the MAF. Obviously you need to make sure you have the right MAF for your car.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was missing because I also didn't see it on torque app as a working gauge.


The engine in my car hesitates for 0.3 sec when you give it quick throttle, and wide band shows it's getting to lean condition I see 18:1, 19:1 right at the time of hesitation.

My torque app shows my fuel press goes down to 33 psi.


When cruising my afrs are always fluctuating from 13:1 to 15:1

Do I need to change fuel pump.?

Does the fuel pressure recover quickly as you stay on the throttle?

I’d start with low hanging fruit and replace the fuel filter first.

AFR are fluctuating from 13:1 to 17:1 while cruising. Does somebody know why it is doing that?

Seems like it does recover quickly, but I have to observe it more.

Well psi drop in fuel system is bad. Is this common? Light tap of throttle and psi is dropping. Ok. I will change fuel filter, see if that helps.

I installed the wideband. Trainwreck? Meaning the motor is eventually is going to granade it self. Seems like they installed a blower but didn't tune the engine completely.

I feel like fuel pump isn't at its optimal condition. I really feel like installing a new fuel pump.

Any pump that you guys can recommend? Not expensive and easy to install.

My power steering was leaking and it threw some oil into air filter and I speculate the maf is contaminated... It that reason for AFR fluctuatiions, it fluctuates from 13.0 to 16.3 all the time, up and down... As I drive...

Also alternator got oil into it, could that also be problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not really familiar with the newer models, but is the MAF like the older 302's where you can easily remove it and spray the sensor with MAF Cleaner? If so, thats a super cheap and easy way to see if it improves anything.
