My Nitto DR's had no traction

It was about 35 degrees here in Connecticut today and I was cleaning my garage and thought I'd take the 'Stang around the block once. I backed out of the driveway and took off and realized the tires were spinning. In the summer time, these things were like glue.

2 gears, nothin' but spin........sounded great though.

Yup same here. Also I believe we get more hp and torque with the cold/cooler/denser air to brake those puppies loose.

A cold drag radial turns into a really hard compound and makes for a slippery ride, lol.

The first night it got real cold I felt like I was driving on ice with my Sumitumo's.

Where in CT do you live? A few weeks back I was coming home from work and an S197 decided to have some fun with me. So we messed around from Hartford till we both got off in Enfield. We gave each other the thumbs up and I told him to pull in to D&D. Come to find out he is also a stang net member over in the s197 forums. His 05 is super charged but he said he was impressed at how quick my car was. We talked for about 15 min and we both want to get a bunch of people to go on a few Sunday night cruises come spring. So if you are interested let me know.

nittos dont add any more traction when inflated and cold than a real good normal tire. They really work when heated. Ive been through 6 sets on 2 different mustangs, and never saw much benefit on the street when cold over a real good street tire.

You can't take these cars out anymore with all that white powdery salt they threw all over the roads now here in CT. Even the tires on my 4Runner break lose. My stangs away for the winter. Haaa remember the great fricken winter we had last year? Had the car out on January 23rd. Not that lucky this year.

I have driven my car the past 2 winters with out any problems and so far I have driven thru all the ice storms we have had. I go from Enfield to Hartford every day for work. I do have winter tires though. I the only reason I don't like driving in the winter is because of all the crap on the roads. I'm looking to get a Jeep Cherokee or explorer but man do they sell fast this time of year.

They arent bad tires for the money. When its nice and warm out they do stick fairly well, just cold weather cuts down on that traction a bit. They handle OK, the rear is still easy to step out but it feels predictable.

The link you posted isnt the tires I have, so it may be different. Those are a newer design I think.

Yea mine are slippery when its cold. But still alot better than regular tires IMO.

I had an extra set of Nittos and got no traction when I was making only 428rwhp, so I sold them. My Goodyear GSD3s are pretty much useless now. When I retire my car from mostly daily driving (hopefully by next spring) it'll be wearing MT's full time.
