Hello,
i am workin on the axle vent on the 88 GT vert. when i pull the fill plug on the pumpkin, i get a nice amount of suction as i yank the plug out. a suggestion from my friend (thanks MM!) led me to check the axle vent (forgot about that sucker). mine is on the pass side - it is a little check valve (think of a PCV valve) with a hat (to help keep crud out of the valve). it took a bit of pressure to get the valve to open, but it appears to work (hence the vac i have in the pumpkin), but there is no way i can see air being able to get back in. i would think air should get back in (i have permanent vac in the pumpkin right now).
i have read of others having a tube with some sort of filter on it - mine is (apparently) metric threads into the top of the axle tube with just a little valve, no tubing, etc. is mine weird?
i had entertained the idea of using a line and breather, but: in town i could not find a metric fitting with a hole in it (hardware store, parts store fuel filters and PCV valves did not have the right size and pitch threads) and i did not want to have to fab up a shielding method to keep road crud out of the filter.
do you guys have similar vent set ups as mine? if not, whatcha got? and im really interested if anyone has modified their vent at all (with a breather, etc).
please share any and all thoughts and opinions! many thanks ladies and gents.
