My springtime mods/problems....oh noes....

Hey everyone,
I got a 94 sixer.
First of all, my problem with my car:
Whenever I push my clutch in, I hear a creaking kind of sound, could this be clutch cable? To my knowledge, it has never had the cable replaced.

Also, there is a squeeking sound when I drive it, with my foot completely off the clutch. If i press gently on it it goes away. Throwout bearing? It was just replaced, but I don't think I used an OE Ford one, and I've heard you should use Ford's.

Now the good news:
I'm finally going to do gears and T/Lock! This is because I live in Minnesota and the winters are really getting on my nerves. I'm hoping that T/lock will help in the snow as well as give me some more pep. What brand and where can I get gears and a T/lock. Also, should I buy an installation kit? I'm probably going to do it myself with my uncle that has done it many times before.

Also, I want to get a short throw shifter. I had a MGW before, and absolutly hated it. Should I just go with a Tri-Ax? That one seems to be the most popular.

And the last thing I want to do is exhaust...should I just get a Mac cat-back? or is it really worth it to go with a completely new setup? I'm not looking for it to sound like a gt, cause i know it wont, but I want it to sound a little more throaty.

I'm going to install my gears and T-Lock sometime this summer(or in Mach ). I bought my 4.10's off of Ebay for $127 and the T-Lok for $150(off ebay) both new and unopened. The guy with the gears has an actual shop, so I'm guessing he stil has them in stock. PM me and I'll give you his ebay info. For the installation kit, it depends if your going to get a shop to do it, because then they might already have that stuff when they install it themselves. But since you and your uncle are going to do it, your probably going to need the instalation kit. Also, your going to probably going to need a tuner because your spedometor is going to be off. The tuner helps to correct it and adds on a couple HP. Does your uncle have a shop? If so, then this shop could probably fix the spedometer for you without you getting a tune or taking it somewhere to get it fixed.

He doesnt have a shop, but he is a damn genious when it comes to cars. As for the spedometer correction, since my car is a 94, dont I need to buy a new speedo gear? And if so, do I still need a tuner?

That's right. I was thinking '99-'04...Right, the speedo gear will work. It will be much cheaper than the tuner!

I don't know much about the T-lock and gears, but I also think the T-lock would be of some help during these great winters in MN.

As for the exhaust, I have the Mac y-pipe kit right now, had it for over 2 years, I relaly like the sound. Nothing like a V8, but it gets the job done and is a direct bolt up so install is easy.

Yeah, I thought you had the Mac setup. I've been wanting to hear one. I'm not sure if youre still at the same school as me, but if you are, drop me a pm. Id love to hear it. Maybe it would make me get it!

People have said that T-loks help with traction, but then if you hit ice, your rear end can pretty much go anywhere, since both wheels are spinning.

Yeah, my rear end already goes anywhere in the sweet snow storms we got here. I want to get T-lock too, but there no way I could do it myself I don't think. And I would be better off doing gears. And I've already got stuff I need to get installed sitting in my living room.

Two quick notes - Not only will the T-Lok help out in Winter, but you should really be running some decent snow tires like Blizzaks. In Buffalo, they've been real life savers!

As far as the speedo gear goes, it will only work up to gear ratios of 3.73. If you go with anything higher, then repositioning your spedometer needle is the only way to get it accurate again after installing the 3.73 speedo gear. Your odometer will be off and can't be adjusted to be correct though.

Plus in the snow, it also helps alot if you put some wieght in your trunk.

I had 200 lbs of salt in my trunck, helped somewhat but not a ton.
