My thoughts on the Steeda Quadrant Kit

I've been thinking about it for awhile, but didn't know if it would be worth the money.

Putting one in (for me) was worth it just to get rid of the throwout bearing chirp.

Interesting... my TOB has been making the infamous chirp for some time now. It's still under warranty and I've taken it in once but even though the service writer heard the chirp it miraculously went away by the time the mechanic looked at it. It was quiet for about a month before the chirp came back with a vengence. For a while I could smell a kinda burning smell and I suspect the mechanic might've hosed the TOB down with white lithium grease or something.

Back to the Steeda quadrant kit, exactly how and what part of it made the chirp go away? I'm guessing you adjusted the clutch to put more pressure on the TOB when you're foot is off the clutch pedal, correct? If that's the case could you get the same results by just installing an adjustable clutch cable like Steeda's or FRPP's without installing a new quadrant? Just wondering, others seem to have suggested that method for keeping the TOB quiet.

Which brings up another question. Is the TOB designed to always be making contact and spinning continuously? While searching this and other message boards I find conflicting reports. I'm getting to the point where I don't care what it takes to make the TOB shutup. TIA
