My Throttle hangs help

when i push in the clutch my throttle hangs for about 10-15 seconds, then comes down where it should. What could cause this? i cleaned the IAC and throttle body, adjusted the TPS to .96 or.97 i dont remember and checked for any vaccum leaks. I am stumped, maybe i need another spring on the throttle, like a carb setup

Does this happen when the car is moving? Like coming to a stop with your foot on the clutch or at idle sitting in the garage?

It does it when driving, i am shifting i let off the gas push in clutch, and it doesnt rev down, it is kinda like powershifting. If i let it sit for about 15 seconds, like at a light or stop it will idle down to the proper RPM

I would look for a vac leak since it does it while stationary (that was what Sroth was going for too - ruling out the hanging rolling idle, which is normal).

no when it is stationary (sitting still) it idles fine, but if i rev it up it hangs for a few seconds before starting to rev down, same way with shifting, it hangs around 2200 (where i shift at normally) until i dont give it gas for about 10-15 seconds then it is back at 900ish where it idles at. maybe i am used to the carb snapping back real fast... i dont think the throttle has a problem returning back to the idle position, but then again i am kinda new to the 5.0 EFI

So you dont have the issue when the car is not moving, no matter how you rev it or anything. Cool.

The computer will look at input from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and will keep the idle raised up artificially high (usually ~1300-1500 RPM) while rolling with your foot off the gas. This helps keep the car from stalling as you get off a freeway, etc (since you might be bogging the motor down with brake lights, power steering, etc, even though you are not pressing the gas).

But a vac leak can also cause a hang, but it would happen at all times, not just while rolling. The other possibility is that the IAC is hanging open for some reason.

I dont have my VSS even hooked up i dont think it would cause this problem but then again i dont know **** about EFI sensors and stuff yet. Could this be the problem? I will spray it down with carb/choke cleaner to find a vaccum leak, i will search long and hard for i t thanks again guys i will keep ya updated and legalize420 you might wanna lay off the weed for a while

Here is what happens in my car:

Start the car up and leave work (only 5 minutes warm up time)
Drive down the highway headed home (30 minutes)
Get off @ my exit
Press the clutch in
The RPM's increase 100 - 200 RPM's briefly and then fall back down to where they should be.
My VSS is hooked up and functioning (RPM's stay around 1500 while I coast to a stop after the above)
The computer is not throwing any codes

I am almost 100% sure this is the sign of a bad TPS sensor. Not one that is out of adjustment, but a bad sensor. This is what I was trying to get at in my original post.

IF i pulled the codes would it tell me if the TPS is bad? I have another one left over from my other intake so i could swap them and see if it helps but right now i have to get my radiator fixed

Here is a tip from Jrichker (if I dont mess it up - this is not a quote):

If you have an idle that sticks, but is fixed by simply turning the car off and restarting it, that can be a bad TPS.

The computer should toss a code if the TPS is out of adaptive capability. But it doesnt always seem to toss codes for the situation like above.

No the computer will only test for proper electrical connection / signal... The TPS is like a dimmer switch in your house. They can develop "blank" spots as the resistor wears out over time.

Now, to be fair, I still haven't changed mine out to see if I solve the issue but I am pretty sure this is the cure.

All you need is a voltmeter to test a tps, it has to have a nice smooth travel up and down. And you can also use a lab scope but not many people have them. the computer can detect if its bad, but im not sure if it will notice a small problem glitch with it...

I adjusted the tps with a ohm/volt meter i adjusted it and it was fine, it still hangs but the more i drive it the less it does after i got my radiator fixed i drove it around and it wasnt as bad as it was yesterday. I will drive it some more and keep ya'll posted on how it does, right now i readjusted the TPS to .97 and the idle to 900ish rpms, would my cam play a factor in this matter? Just FYI it is a comp xe270hr-14

I have another IAC i dont think it is off a mustang the connector is different but would it work if i swapped it just to see if this is it. it fits and everything and the connection is the same it will plug in but it is straight instead of at an angle.
