i went to the 1/8th mile track on friday. This is my second time going. I didnt improve at all. stayed the same. with 1/4 tank of gas spare and jack removed best i ran:

60ft 2.1
1/8 9.1@ 81.xx

It was about 80 out and about 85% humidity I think im around 1000 ft elevation or less.. like 700 so that shouldnt really be a factor. These times seem like what I should be able to run stock. I went to the track last year got almost identical numbers. This was the fastest run but they were all very close, usually a 2.1 60ft, and 81mph trap speed. Just .1 or .2 higher if my wheels spun more when i shifted. I would like to be able to get into the 8's. what do you guys think i could do for less than $1000 to get me there? Mods are in sig. I know my wheels are very heavy i think about 55lbs.

n2o. another set of rims and tires maybe some DR or slicks. Practice.....make sure motor is cooled off. Were you hot lapping? Play around with shift points. Lower tire pressure ? Depends on how bad you want into the 8's and how deep in the 8's you want.

if you don't want to break anything you should stop racing, otherwise if i were you i'd get drag radials,i have them on my car with 4.10 and they don't spin much if any compared to regular radials,i thinks they and the gears are the best bolt on yet.

When do you shift? You should shift at 5300-5500, a mostly stock 4.6l falls on its face after that. BTW at the 1/8 mile track I go to at 740' a bone stock 99-04 5 speed runs 9.3s at about 79-80. I sure a dyno tune would help a lot, I didn't see one in your sig. Also are you still running the stock mid pipe? An aftermarket off road X would really open things up for you too. I say get a UPR off road X and then go get a dyno tune. Good luck!

yea you should get he 60's down, i got the m/t et street radials, just launch it at 4k ;) i ran an 8.7 last thursday with not very much done, there was a girl there in a 04gt vert, with just exhaust that cracked a 8.9, not to downplay you, but practice will get the times down a lot

I just ran the 8th for my first time saturday. I did... horrible.

I have a stock 03 gt coupe, and I ran a 10.1 and a 10.4 (missed 3rd LOL!!)

But yeah, I spent a good 5 seconds spinning my tires.. half the track. So I'm with these guys.. invest in some rubber for the track, its gotta be worth it. With my tires now.. I cant launch at 2.5k if i wanted to.

Good luck

ouch, yea i know those runs, have to pedal 3 times in first gear :nonono: , on my street tires i would run 9.0's with a 2.0 60', feathering at 2k, now i just hangon

these threads are very common it seems. best thing would be to get your 60ft under 2.0, then you will be able to see how fast your car really is and take it from there. Theres no point in spending money on parts to go faster if there is more room to improve on the parts you do have.

I run an 8.69 @ 80.8x. Thats a 1.909 60' on the street tires. IMO you should try coming out at 3K and slipping the clutch. I have the same tires as you, just 285s instead of 275s (not much difference at all) and I was running 30PSI...BUT the track was prepped like mad. Practice or go DRs. My .02.

They mean take off at a higher rpm, but don't let the clutch all the way out. Ride the clutch about the first 15-20 feet before letting it all the way out. It is real tricky to get it right, I prefer to just drop it at 2k and feather it as traction allows. But with my method the best 60' I ever got was a 2.07, and the track had a lot of prep that night.

I run steady 8.54-8.56s with 1.96-2.00 60fts. This was done at two different tracks so times are accurate. Mods: '01 GT with nothing more than 4.10, mid pipe, catback, predator & mac cai.

You should be running similar or better times.

So is the best way to launch coming out of the whole almost immediately at WOT, and then just feathering teh clutch for maximum traction? I was kind of feathering the clutch and also the gas. The track was prepped well. I was slipping it out from almost 4k a few times with light to moderate wheel spin. I just need to try somethign a little different i guess. It seems like no matter what i did i wouldnt be able to pull under a 2.1 60ft. BTW- On my gtech i cannot get under 5.5 0-60, and i cannot break the 14 second barrier on the 1/4, however usually trapping 104-106. But thats on a gtech. I guess i just need to practice. My tires seem to hook a lot harder when they are warm. I also wanted to add that i ran identical times on my GTECH when all i had was catback exhaust. 0-60 5.5 1/4 14.0x@ 104-106. Now i have all these mods and my car is no faster?? :(

My 1st gtech times are with catback only, my recent times are with everything in my sig. I have some ssr forged wheels sitting around that i used for my maxima. They are 16x7.5 with 225 race rubber on them. 27lb wheel/tire combo. I think im going to throw those on there tonight if they line up right and go see what i can do on the gtech.
