My BFG KDW II's, (which seem to be popular around here) have some hairline cracks along the edge, and in between the tread. First, is that OK, because In know they are soft tires and that could happen. Second, are those tires no good in cold weather, and could that cause the cracks?

Cracks are caused by old age and or a lot of sitting in one place. Look near the DOT code on the tire. It says DOT on both sides of the tire, but sometimes it only has the date on one side.

Ex.

DOT (some goofy numbers) then...3805 That means they were made the 38th week in 2005. Tires are about 3 years old. 2207....22nd week in 2007. and so on.

IF you ever see say: 309 That means 30th week 1999...old son of a guns there!
