I've been experimenting with drag radials recently and have been to the track 2 weeks in a row with about the same setup. I'm not sure if my best run of 8.59 @ 82 is sufficient, as I'm a little disappointed but have no other comparison to measure against. I'm used to running nitrous, and now I'm back to just running on motor for awhile.

My times were very consistent and mostly in the lower 8.60's with 1.9x 60fts.
Here's 2 time slips but all the rest are very similar...I had a shop owner drive my car as well and he pulled very similar but slightly better mph at 82.5. It was pretty warm last night so I know heat was a factor.

60ft: 1.89
ET: 8.646
MPH: 81.31

60ft: 1.93
ET: 8.639
MPH: 81.66

Car: 99 GT Coupe

mods ran at the track:
275/50/15 Nitto Drag Radials on Weld rims (17-19psi)
Skinnies up front at 33psi
Swaybar removed
Trunk gutted
Rear Seat Delete Kit

Performance:
3.73 gear
C&L Plenum
Accufab 75mm TB
C&L MAF kit
ProM Remote Optimizer
Steeda pullies
Aluminum driveshaft
SPEC stg 2 clutch
Prochamber Hpipe
DynaBat battery in trunk
Line Lock
Tokico 5ways set on #2 setting and Steeda springs

Dyno tuned to peak 256rwhp/294rwtq

So give me some feedback. Is she right on course? Or in need for some improvement? We tried all different types of launching and found slipping the clutch slightly at 3400-3600 to be the best launch without bogging or blowing the tires off.

Sounds about right, might be able to shave a few tenths by power shifting or something like that but with those 60ft's its not your launch slowing you down.. Sounds like you are doing just fine, may be able to bring it down with a little more practice on the DR's, they took me forever to get used to on the track, you breaking them loose at all or skipping on launch?

you should be doing much better than that, i have pulled those 1/8 mile times on street tires quite a few times with 1.95 60's

not many drag racers left here. i feather my clutch out at 3500rpms on street tires, you should be able to launch at least at 4500+. Sounds like you need a bigger burnout and less psi in the rears

Those 1/8th miles make it out to be a 13.4 car in the 1/4. That's not too bad. The launches sound like they are fine, but I know there is more in it. WIth 15'' nittos, a few locals here in STL can go 1.7s on the 60'. Just keep practicing with the launch and you'll be running great in no time.
