How much of that is labor? If you can do the work yourself, you could get a T-56 swap kit for that.

Swapping Tranny's is easy. Don't pay some guy to swap your tranny, when you can easily do it yourself. It's a four step process. Remove the driveshaft, Remove the shifter, Remove the Transmission cross member, and remove the transmission. You might have to one or two more things to swap a TKO in there, but no big deal.

if u can make a focus run mid 14's u can swap out a tranny

definatly do it yourself. i have the TK600 in my car and love it. installed it myself and it took a weekend but i was taking my time. unless your planning on getting the T-56 i would recommend the TK600. i got mine from Powered By Ford and had real good luck with them and the whole thing cost me just over $2k.

I did the TKO swap and it was not a daunting task at all. Just take it slow and remembering where the bolts go wont be a problem.

Of course if you try and rush it like me you run into problems. I cant stress enough how taking your time helps on this install.

There are a few things you are going to need with the TKO install other than a bellhousing.
You will need a driveshaft spacer,

TKO specific clutch fork,

26t clutch disc,

87-93 clutch cable dust cover,

2 smaller bolts for the top two holes on the aluminum bellhousing from tremec. The bellhousing to block bolts. You can use 2 of the new bolts that come with the trans.

A new trans mount is reccomended, mine was in alright shape but I replaced it anyways with a polyurethane one from energy suspension.

You will need a shift handle to go with the hurst shifter that comes with the trans. Remember tremec discontinued the tremec 3550 and replaced it with the tko500/600 So they come with a hurst short shifter. The stock handle will work but you will need to get bushings, SLP and Steeda both sell these bushings.

FYI, the exhaust bracket under the trans will have to be scraped unless you can modify it to fit. You really dont need it but there is one person on this forum I think that has done it.

And indexing the bellhousing is highly recommended from alot of people from this site. (Killer) I havent done mine yet but will when my new parts come in so I can get ready for the winter teardown. I have noticed no vibration from the trans so I "think" its in spec. But I will check.

Oh and save your money, install it yourself.

EDIT: If you need the driveshaft spacer let me know. I just had a local shop make me a new driveshaft. Its yours if you pay for shipping, thats all.

YOu could try the GForce T-5 kit. THey say its good for 500 hp or so. Even if thats over rated you have a pretty mild setup and so far the gforce has held up good on mine. it was 1100 for the gforce gear set and T-5 rebuild kit. And 120 for the 26 spline clutch disc (which you will need for the TKO anyways) and 250 for labor to have a local shop to rebuild it. So for less than 1500, I had a new tranny that was stronger than a t-5. Plus this setup is an easy straight up install (no mods or specialty parts needed, except the new clutch disc) and it does not add any weight to the car/the front end like the heavier tremecs do.
