On occasion I see full weight 3200#-3300# mustangs on here trapping over 110mph with a basic out of the box h/c/i setup & 3.73s. My question is how is it done? I've personally never seen a mustang in person that did it. I've got all the bolt ons and a nice h/c/i setup and my car doesn't budge over 107mph.

How much tunning is involved? I know you don't throw these parts together and bust 110mph+ first time out.

What am I missing here?

Well I know in my situation, I run slicks, drive like a maniac, and my engine combo is good and 1 of the parts includes a Ed Curtis FTI Custom Cam :nice: I could also get more MPH if I changed to 410 gears, ditched my a/c & swaybar, but I choose not to.

that was my next question. I guess some are still running a/c and power steering also. Anyone doing it with full size tires up front?

I was running 17s all the way around when it went 107mph

so you actually shift with the throttle at WOT?! dont the RPM's just shoot up and bounce off the rev limiter like crazy? Isnt this dangerous for the engine and tranny? Im sure its faster but does it hurt the car to do that?

yep, it's called powershifting and it's worth a couple tenths.

not if you're quick enough. :nice:

well, like racing it is abuse on the parts, but that's the price of going fast. if you're on a stock t-5 and powershifting, well, let's just say you're on borrowed time.

How do you say T-R-E-M-E-C 3-5-5-0? or even T-R-E-M-E-C T-K-O :D

I was running 107.5 mph with full size tires (245/50/16) up front. I switched over to some skinnies (had the Welds out back already) and started trapping 109+.

I have PS but no AC.

a freind of mine (wrathchild on here) goes high 109's @12.71 on a 1.9 60' with stock high mileage suspension and 17 in heavy wheels .....its just a simple h/c/i with the t.b ,mass and fuel...im sure hell chime in...hes also running 4.10's i think he picked up 1 mph from switching from 3.55-4.10

306/stock TW heads, 1.72 rockers, B-cam, stock GT-40 upper, matched & polished lower. 24# injectors, 73mm C&L, 65mm TB, 3550 went 12.014@113 at sea level w 1.61 60'.

"25thMustang"s Dad has a 90 or 91 LX, Hatch I think?, He has a Cobra intake, Explorer-GT40P heads, 1.7/72 roller rockers, STOCK cam, full-exhaust, and gears-4.10's or 4.30's.
I think he runs 12.3x's@110mph. That car hauls A*SS!

Thanks, it seems i'm on par with running 107.8mph then. I have all box stock parts and 17s all the way around also weighs 3300#s with me in it. I have a/c and powersteering. Also I have not powershifted it. I can't seem to powershift my Tremec like I could my T5.

So I guess if I put skinnies up front and powershift, it should trap 110mph for sure. I'll find out saturday if I pick up any mph by running a set of slicks for the first time.

Thats me he talks about.

In addition to what was said. I never trapped high powershifting. (not to say it doesnt work) I let off the gas when i shift. I ran everything on nittos also. Hopefully this year with the addition of ET streets i can pass the 110 mph mark. I could never dump the clutch with nittos. Always slipped it and feathered the gas.

Suspension was so bad i could compress and extend front struts with one hand.
