What is this piece? Is there something that is supposed to go there? On the instrument panels only half the pieces light up. It is right next to the gas pedal on the right. Is something missing? The left side check engine/airbag light do not turn on. Is that normal? By the way its a just bought car. Good condition.

:OT: Do you pass emmisions w/ your cats gutted? I wanted to do this when I dropped the h-pipe for the clutch install, but decided to wait for the x-pipe. Just curious.

The CEL/air bag lights should come on when you turn the key to the "acc" position, then turn off after a second or two. So if they don't, you DO have a problem.

That is the OBD2 connector for your computor. It's for scanning your ECM for codes.

94-95 5.0 are obd-1 The ecm port is under the hood by the left strut tower. That is an obd-2 connector and it was used on the 94+v6 and 96+ 4.6. The connector under the dash is useless for our car's

Ok, Thanks. Yes the check engine lights do not come on when i start the car. I am thinking they need to be replaced and hopefully its just a burned out light and not a dealer trying to make a few bucks. Good thing we have laws in mass where i can bring it back if it does not pass emissions and they have to pay to fix it.

As for the gutted cats question. I have actually bought new cats so i switch them for the ones with something inside them for emissions. It isn't that hard actually just to remove them and replace them. The exhaust tone isn't as nice with gutted cats. I would stick with what you have.
