What is this thing? This is on a 93 convertible 2.3 on the passenger side strut tower. What does it control? I am doing a 5.0 swap on this, can this go bye bye?
Sorry. I will look into it though.I think your first answer was closerLex said:its a MAF (mass air flow) meter. Whether its important I'm not sure
. A mass air meter it is not, that much I know for sure.Thats what I was leaning to because I have only seen them on the 2.3's with the DIS.nickl said:im pretty sure its for the ignition its controls spark, for the coil packs.
Thank you sir. Thats what I needed to know. So it sounds to me like it can go bye bye. Anybody wanna buy an IRCM?Stinger said:Got me laughing folks...sometimes it's better to say nothing...
It's the IRCM (Integrated Relay Control Module), it controls the fan, fuel pump, and EEC power.

Sorry for the misinformation

unless you rewire it... have fun with that.ib_steed said:Notice the "EEC Power"... that is importantunless you rewire it... have fun with that.

Now you got me second guessing myself. I was going to take out the EEC altogether. I was under the impression that it only controld engine functions, am I off base here?ib_steed said:Notice the "EEC Power"... that is importantunless you rewire it... have fun with that.
so it controlds the fuel pump, I plan to wire up a new circuit with the relay near the battery in the trunk, no problem there. I think I heard that it also controls the engine fan, gone, no problem there. What else do you suppose it controls?MustangPatty said:That box is almost all of the relays in your car. Ford had the idea, in stead of indavidual relays, put them all in one box. You "COULD" get rid of it, but you;d them have to wier in single relays in its place...Which I my self would orobably do, damn things are about $70 from ford...![]()
