NastytGT: Roush TVS @ 524 rwhp

I finally got one of VMP's new pulleys for the Roush TVS. It allows the use of the stock crank pulley and water pump pulley. No more running the Steeda UDPs which means no more broken water pump pulleys. I broke two in the course of a couple months. Apparently they can't take the load and abuse. I'm currently running a 3.25" blower pulley, stock crank pulley, stock water pump pulley, and a 90mm idler directly below the blower. The pulley uses a press in hub and than the pulley bolts to the hub. So, pulleys can be swapped fairly easy.

I suspect due to belt wear and how much dust it was putting off that it was probably slipping quite a bit with such a small blower and crank pulley. Another good thing about the pulley is that I really can't see the belt coming off of it. This set-up should also create more belt wrap so there are no issues of it slipping currently. I'm going to be putting a brand new belt on it and watch how it wears very closely to see if there was a problem previously. I'll post in a couple of weeks about how that turns out. I'm very happy with the set-up and can't wait to try some more things out in the future!

I'm sure it's from the added stress of the blower, especially the load when downshifting hard. Both of these times were after downshifting to either 4th or 3rd at "highway-ish" speeds and than running up into 5th. I can't blame Steeda because they didn't build it for this but my issue is that the stock water pump pulley holds up to anything you throw at it.

I would think it should have held up considering the stocker holds up to the abuse.

Nitto NT555R 305/35/20s. It ran 11.87 at 119 mph with a 1.76 60' time back when I had 463 rwhp and a stock clutch. I haven't been able to get to a track with good track prep.

Why not go with an overdirve crank pulley while your at, good for more boost and less belt slip.

Really good times for a big 20 inch wheel and Nittos. Thought about getting something a little stickier than Nittos?

I haven't been able to get to a track with good track prep.

You know when our track is well prepped.......all sorts of things start breaking on the cars....mostly rearends, transmission, clutches....lol

Yes. I'm going to be ditching this wheel and tire set-up for something else and running the Nitto NT05 315/35/20s and 275/35/20s on the street and than probably some Holeshots and slicks for the track than it's on ..

Just got some new shoes!

My Nitto NT555Rs were a little worn out. 5,000 miles with track time and hard use on the street. It was pretty interesting in the rain to say the least...

Better pictures in the morning. 315/35/20s fit on 20x10" wheels and Steeda Sport springs though. No more sidewall buldge than the Nitto NT555R 305/35/20s on the car previously. Still running the bump stop, bump stop plate, and shock cover too. No rubbing at all!

Couple of questions....

What backspace are you running on those wheels?

Can you take a picture of the rear of the car?

I would like to see how wide those tires and wheels look underneath..

Oh my god man, your car is so sick...inside and out!!! I love it. Why aren't you running the stock pulley on the blower?? I mean, I've heard its fairly safe. Thats what I'm running, stock pullies on motor and blower. Guess I don't beat on my car like you do. She's a daily driver and it's not too often I hit the rev limiter. What do you think about this set up?? Should I look into an underdrive pulley??

Thanks, I appreciate it. I posted in that other thread too. I didn't see you had posted here.. Personally, I'd recommend running a larger blower pulley like most of us are doing now with the stock motor. The Roush 3.0" pulley makes a little too much boost. Which crank pulley are you running? I'm hoping the factory one.. I'd recommend getting a larger blower pulley from VMP Tuning and than you'll be able to enjoy the car without really worrying about it as long as you've got a good tune. Who tuned it? No reason to run UDPs anymore though since we've got people who are making pulleys for them. I only ran them in the beginning because it was really the only option. I think ~10-11 lbs of boost is the most you want to go, maybe 12 lbs if you're feeling frisky but either way you need a good tune!! Any more questions feel free to ask.

Well currently I'm tuned by CR at Tillmans. I'll PM you. And yes I'm running the stock pulleys on the car. I think I need to get ahold of a 3.25" pulley for the blower like you say. I seen my boost gauge hit 14 once...a little sketchy...hahaha.
