Need 1Wire Alt Writeup

Sorry, I know people have done them, but I can't seem to locate one wherever I've looked :shrug:

My car has had a reoccuring problem of having the electrical system die every couple months. Just stops starting so many months after a new battery. I've tore the thing apart looking looking for shorts, so my next step is to move to a 100amp instead of a 60amp.

As far as installation it's pretty simple correct? I don't need to reroute anything else to put one of em in? Will a 100 amp summit or PM fit in stock brackets? Thanks...I'm an electrical moron.

And what the heck...instead of creating a new post...Anyone know a good detailed book on classic mustang suspension, a sort of step by step guide?
Thanks in advance guys

For the alt.
1. Remove current alternator
2. Install Powermaster, Summit, ect ect. Alt.
3. Hook a 4 gauge wire to the back of the alt, and run it to the battery side of the soleniod.
4. Remove old regulator, and either;
A. tie back old wires or
B. remove them entirely
5. Enjoy a cleaner engine compartment, and more powerful electrical system. ;)

As for your suspension, purchase a set of shop manuals off e bay, and you will have all the info you could ever want on your suspension!

Good luck.

If it's a true 1 wire alternator, all you have to do is connect the big wire to the + terminal of the battery.

As for the brackets, you should be able to get one that will use your stock bracket.

Try to find the main alt. to batt. cable already crimped, or have someone that knows what they are doing with this. I had a guy at a local electronics parts store crimp my cable, because I don't have the giant crimpers myself, and make sure that the terminal on the battery side is insulated (like a rubber boot).
