I just purchased my first 94 mustang 5.0 auto. i was just wondering if i could get a idea what it would take to get to high 11 sec 1/4 mile time and still be streetable/ pass emissions. like would i need to supercharge it or 351 or can it do with the 302? thx.

that would be easier, but you can do it with a good head/cam/intake combo and nitrous. you can also stroke out the 302 to like a 347 and do the same. the sky is the limit. what i would do is browse around here and see what other people are running and see their combos.

Welcome to 94-95 :SNSign:

Just some general things to think about when you use 1/4 mile stats to base
your expectations from :)

1) Driver ability has SO much to do with it :Word:
The less ability the more hp you need to make up for it

2) How good your car can sixty foot would be next to consider
The lower you can do this the less you need in the hp department
This can't be stressed enough
cause
Every tenth off the sixty will yield 1.5 to 2.0 tenths off on the big end

3) Your auto trans as it is now really hurts you when you wanna drag race :notnice:
You can greatly improve things with a higher stall tc and shift kit :nice:
Again ... less hp needed if you are efficient here

Having said the above ... 2 & 3 will cost a good bit of money :(
Item 1 can make a big difference and will cost nothing but
track entry fee ... that is ... if you don't break something :rlaugh:

I guess the point I'm trying to make is
You can obtain your goal with less hp than you suspect
IF
You get the most out of 1,2, & 3

I'm not too versed on auto trans combos but I'd say you could do it
with as little as 300 to 350 to the wheels

Now if you do a power adder and up the hp ......
you can slack off the above three ... well ... somewhat but not too much :D

as always ... more than one way to skin a cat ;)
